I am currently at College doing a course on artifical nails and love practicing on family & friends. Whilst playing about with nail art, I used the water marbling technique with nail varnish on white plastic tips, and my neice loved it. I have to do a set of gel nails for her tomorrow for a dancing competition she is going to and she would like these tips with clear gel on the top. I have measured her fingers for all 10 tips and will have the marbling done tonight before she arrives tomorrow, but just wanted your advice please. When I usually do gel (use Creative brisa) over white tips, I blend the tips and remove the shine before I put on the gel, and a wondering what to do with the marbelled tips, if I try to blend or remove the shine it will remove the marbling effect, but if I put the clear gel straight onto the tips without blending or removing the shine, will the gel adhere properly? Any advice would be welcome, as I'm still learning (probably always will be!). I love this site by the way and have found it such a help in the 6 months since I started my training.

You are right you would not be able to remove the shine as it would remove the polish,
and if you try to apply gel over the polish it will not adhere fully as gel needs a rough surface to hold onto,
the gel girls get around this by using coloured gels and applying the marbling effect with these, hth
