hi every one:),
i just feel like i could do with a bit of advice, now i have currentley just finished my materninty leave, but am not going back to my previous job as it was just a part time fill in at the local school, whilst i was pregnant as i had left my salon job as a beauty therapist due to the change over of the boss who i did NOT get on with,
thing is since leaving which was about 16 months ago, i have still been doing a bit of waxing etc on a few people i know well,
i also on a weekley basis have ex clients of mine asking if i will be staring up at some point as they would love to come back to me, i would love to have them back but i carnt advertise and build up clients as i do not have a propper based salon, im in a private rented house and its in my dining, room and allthough my house is clean and tidy its not good enough to have clients round as i feel they would expect a special little room not kids shoes, coats, etc,,and not to forget my 2 dogs 1 of which is a big english mastiff and will be having pups in around a week:eek:,
thing is today i had a ex colleuge/friend call around to ask if i would do her some waxing,"today,". i was kind of caught off guard but didnt mind and said yea thats fine but explained and showed her where it would take place,
she was fine about it, so she came in and we got on with it with my little boy sat very happy in his high chair eating a rusk, all was well,.
after finishing she asked how much, and didnt bat an eye lid when i said X amount, but i feel a bit bad about the amount,. it was £13 to £15 pounds less than she would have paid in one of our local salons but it was in my dining room with my little boy there eating a rusk:lol: and i just feel unsure about the price situation. it seamed more like a friend comming around for a favour and me ripping her off:eek:, i know im not a charity giving out freebies but i always feel abit bad when it comes to taking payments, unless im in a salon wearing my uniform,.
how would you peeps charge in comparision with your local salons in the same situation???????????????
thanks in advance for any help:hug:xxx

Are you insured? Do you have permission from council/landlord to run a biz in your home? Are you declaring your earning with the inland revenue?

Sorry for all the questions lol, but my advice would be to do it right or not at all. I know some of the clients might feel like your mates, but if you're going to charge them, you need to be pro about it  xx
