I qualified in gel nail extensions on Sunday gone since then ive done 3 sets of nails one for my sister one for my mum and one for me (mine and my mums went a little wrong) but now have learnt from what mistakes i did make.

I need people to practice on so i messaged all my clients to tell them and im charging 10.00 for a full set of nails and 5.00 for infills just for now

is this too cheap?

I dont work with gel but when I did first train in acrylic I charged £10 for full sets & £8 for infill's I did this for about 6 months or so. I dont think its too cheap initially but just make sure you state a period of time at least then you can review your timings and competency in line with your pricing.

I would say £15.00 at least for a full set babes, others may disagree but it's JMO that you shouldn't go below £15.00

I agree with the above...I charged £15.00 for a full set!!

xx

Thanks guys... I think i may stick at 10 for just this special introduction for a week and then charge 15.00 thanks for ur wonderful help again

Hi hun, I'm charging £10 as I found when I charged £15 no one seemed to want any and as I really need to practice thought it was easier to charge less.

Depends on your area too. Have youtried to find out what would be an average?
I understand when you are practising to charge a bit less, and then collect your clientele like that, but don't forget once you get more skillfull to raise the charges as if you do a good job, people will pay for you.

Im in exactly the same area as you

REally!!!! LOL That is amazing!!!!
You are in Dagenham too??? Just goes to show how little the world is...
the problem here is all these chinese nail bars, who ruin the nails..... In this area it is sooo hard to compete with their prices.
On heathway there is sometimes a queue behind the door in the morning to get their nails done.

Yeah im in dagenham round the corner to heathay. I do kno the NSS nail bar up the heathway they are always busy makes me so angry  They dont deserve clients at all!x

You are right, they don't. But unfortunately they will always have them in this area because people in here will go for the cheap option. Not fair, but maybe with a good education people will start to see what is the quality of their work and what do they do to the clients nails.

Don't take this the wrong way but please try to refer to these salons as NSS and not Chinese x

Sorry, did I offend someone? what does NSS stand for? I am not being ignorant, that is what it is called in here, because of the ownership.
And ofcoarse I don't take it in the wrong way..... you girls are here to help me and quide me, I am lucky :D

NSS stands for Non Standard Salons. It's technically a better term because a person of any race can open one of these salons and any chinese person can have good training and be a great nail tech.

I'm sure nobody was offended, so don't worry. There's so many shortened terms on here its hard to keep track, lol xxx

maybe we should do a tutorial on shortened terms..... ;)

No offence caused, just best to use the term nss (non standard salon) even if the salon is a Chinese salon and is called "the Chinese Salon" iykwim.
