Hi Geeks,

I've done my course in spray tan and have my tent and kit to get me started. I'm using Tan Truth - the colour is very natural and smells lovely, and so far, I've not had any complaints about patchy fades (which I'd heard happens with this brand).

I find that when I spray the body, the spray obviously falls downwards and settle son the tops of tootsies. So the next day, having orange feet!!

I experimented on my sis-in-law by lightly placing couch roll over her feet to catch the spray and giving a quick once over at the end. Colour-wise, this worked great, but she had a faint line mark where the towel was positioned.

Does anyone have any hints and tips for me to get the perfect tanned feet please?

Fairly new to spray tanning myself but at work we use small plastic bags (the one we use in pedicures for masks) and wrap these around the feet when we are spraying. Then after the whole body has been sprayed we take them off and lightly spray the feet and after ten minutes use a mitten to buff if there are any lines/marks.

HTH :)

As you have noticed yourself the spray falls down onto the feet as you are spraying the rest of the body,
especially when you are spraying the legs, so there is no need to spray the feet,
just leave them be with the spray that has fallen down onto them and they will look nice and natural without any orangeness or any need to mess about covering them up, hth

I use sienna x and they sell a barrier cream for feet still tans thru but gives a better result

Should there be this amount of overspray though? I'm not a spray tan expert, mind, I've only just started doing it!

The trouble with using barrier creams and placing towels over feet whilst spraying can leave white tide lines.

It the technique is right then there really is no need for either.

If feet are getting over tanned then

1) Maybe worthwhile looking at the setting of your gun...maybe the output volume needs turning down 30-45ml is all that's needed for a full body

2) On the downward stroke start pulling away earlier and or exaggerate the pull back somewhat..so its a definitive pull back.

3) look at where you position your extract module...if placed correctly it should draw away any over spray dropping onto the feet....set incorrectly the feet could get drenched...set correctly sufficient over spray should drop onto the feet so the tan outcome matches the rest of the body.

Takes a bit of practice and usage to get this bit right...so keep on trying any of the above scenarios until conditions are ideal.
HTH and good luck

Yes the airbourne spray drops lightly over the feet when you do the rest of the body.

I personally cover the feet tops and bottoms with an oil free moisturiser as well as the backs of the hands do that they do not take as dark.

You can also advise clients who continually have problems to gently rinse the tops of there feet after a couple of hours, being careful not to splash water on their legs.
