Hi everyone Im Jodi and new to all this.Currently on a hairdressing nvq jus fin my 1st year and getting clients asking for nails and tans!! Im interested in going mobile as a hairdresser when Im competent but thinkin abt maybe starting off tanning while Im still in training-maybe trying an acrylic nail course also as an additional service. Im just wondering what the average amount of tans anyone does in a week as Im trying to work out a cash flow forecast for business and also wether Im gonna make enough to keep me afloat until Im established?? I m thinking about going with Tantrick as they seem to be the choice of the professionals and also wondering whats the best kit to get from them for starting out (heard some diff views on them supplying argos nuresse spray guns??!!)
All advice is more than welcome ,:)Thanx for all your help x

Hi there

Busy months for tanning for me have been April, June, July, August, September, december.

Don't do many january and february. July and August gets lots of tanning parties.

Tanning is definitely a good add-on if you're offering something else as well.

PM Collin - he'll give you your nearest trainer so you can have a chat with them.

Thanx Jules for replying so quick, Ive been in touch with a lady from Tantrick called Gemma-shes on here too-looking to get started asap but want to complete my business workshops first so Im a little more clued up on how things work and grants etc. Do you have an average tans in a week for these months and how do you work out how far youre willing to travel wether its worth it or not? x

Hey Gemma, yep that was me on the fone 2u tday hun! Hey,small world...have you got any thoughts about my post-average weekly sprays? Also how you work out wether its worth your while or not distance wise?? x

Hi can I just apologise about asking questions about peoples income-didnt intend it to come out like that or seem like Im prying into others personal business so Im real sorry. Im just wanting to know what most people average in tans not income (oops) then I can work out myself what I could hopefully earn... hope no offence taken and I really appreciate all advice xx

Its tricky to answer your question as the answer depends on so many factors, and you are likely to get 20 different answers from 20 different people re number of tans in a week.

Depends on:

your location
size of business
how much advertising you do
more experienced tanners will benefit from recommendation
Time of year
and more

Trying to help here hun but its a bit tricky to give a firm answer. We can do from 5 to 40 tans a week depending on time of year.

A lot depends on the above and how much you are willing to put into the start up and marketing of your business too. Hope that helps a little?! x

I have PM'd you some info on prices and stuff in our area. x

Yeah I understand its soooo hard starting out blind!! Im trying really hard to get as well prepared as I can possibly be-doing business workshops on finance, marketing and networking but most of all Im passionate about all things hair and beauty and I think this is key to going far xx Thanx Cherish xx
p.s does anyone have an opinion on which is the best kit to get from tantrick when starting out? what about this nuresse from argos?? x

Hi Jodi and welcome to salon geek and the wonderfull world of spraytan.

Argos...well erm the best thing you could buy from there is some cheap shelving for storing all your spraytan equipment on .

The T200 minimist is best suited for your needs however no doubt Gemma will be advising you well.

Good luck with your new buisness venture and enjoy spreading the

Will do thanx for that-had read a cpl previously but wasnt sure if they came as standard package with Tantrick x

Thanx Collin I see your the expert somewhat on here-everyone goes to u ! Yeah Gemma is really helpful. I jus wasnt sure if the nuresse was standard as a basic package with Tantrick, dunno if I read that somewhere??? I no Ill be advised on the best equipment off Gemma tho. Thanx Collin xx

The Nuresse machine to be fair is a good little machine but its for domestic use...not for commercial spraytanning

Good luck with the buisness and remember we are always around to support you even past training

Step away from the Argos catalogue if you want to look professional and get future bookings,
any one of the kits from tantrick are fab and all professional.
Imagine this..
you go to a clients house to give a spray tan, you get your nuresse kit all set up, client walks into the room where you are and says oh i have one of those in the loft that i bought from Argos but it does not do a good spray tan, sorry but if you are not using professional equipment then i think i will change my mind as i could use my own,
you would have lost a client and she will tell all her friends to avoid booking with you as she could spray them with the same machine.
Always buy professional equipment and products as it does make the world of difference hun

Thanx for everyones advice I appreciate it and yeah, thats wot I thought-sounds really naff if you can get it in argos!! Ive taken it on board and think Im gonna start on the right footing with the T200 as suggested by Gemma and Collin xx Keep uz posted....
