Hello - am hoping someone can help!!

I'm currently completing bio-sculpture training - have my exam in feb - eek!

Can I just ask your procedure when doing overlays.... do you put the first clear gel layer on all fingers nails, cure and then proceed with colour gel, doing say 2 nails at a time?

I seem to have had a mental blank on this part!!!

Thanks in advance for any help.:)

I qualified in september in bio sculture. I was taught to prep nails, apply clear gel on 2 fingers at a time then cure and then do another 2 fingers. Once all 10 are cured then apply the colour gel 2 at a time but i do see from other posts that some people can do all 5 on one hand and cure. Hope this helps.

i use calgel and i always do five nails at a time it works the same and i havent had a problem yet, i always try things out on my own nails first as it doesnt matter if it goes wrong then hth xx

I qualified in Bio in November and I prep all nails first then I completely do the thumbs first then move on to the fingers completing two at a time. I am lucky enough though at home to have two lamps, but I did not use two in my exam and did it that way. I do all the top coat last at one time though. Good luck xx

Hi

with Biosculpture I've been told that by doing five at a time, by the time you do the fifth the gel will have shrunk back on the first and look like a weeks re-growth. Because of that I do two at a time, but I'm very new to Biosculpture so I suspect that experienced Bio techs who work much quicker may be able to do five at a time.

Hi

What have you been taught to do?

I would take a look at your application and speak to your educator as this shouldn't be happening.

Bio Sculpture do train you to do 2 nails at a time, and for your assessment you should stick to this. They expect to see you do as they trained you to, so don't deviate.....at least until after your assessment!

As you get more experienced you will speed up and may manage more.

Bio does shrink if you leave it too long on the nail without curing.....try it on a tip and watch. Pull the gel to the end of the nail and leave it.....after a few minutes there is no cap left, and we all know how important capping is. It doensn't shrink anywhere near as much as many other colour gels, but it does shrink.

I can happily manage all 4 nails, now, in half the time it took me to do 2 when I started, but I always do 4 and the thumbs seperately. You cannot get a fully effective cure on Bio with the angle of the thumb nails, if curing them at the same time as fingers. It may look and feel cured, but believe me, you will get more product breakdown on thumbs if you try to do them at the same time as fingers. Just not worth the risk for the 10 minutes it takes to do thumbs properly.

Well, there you go - you learn something new every day!!
I've never had that happen to me - even when i was training and we were taught to do all 4 fingers and then thumbs together.

I'll have to go and have a look now! :)
