Blixz nails, NOT Minx, misleading

I was browsing NOW magazine dated 11/01/10 and in there beauty colomn they have a part on nails, with beyonce stating she has minx manicures costing £50, whereas if you cant afford this try blinx,,with a pic of these (exactly same as minx on the form even patterns are identicle) Now this is mis-leading as they should really put from £20 to £50plus,,,, and also since I inform customers minx only lasts 2-3 days on fongers whats stopping them thinking??? oh well I might as well get them for spec occasion for my fingers??? iygwim xxxx

OMG yeh these look identical to minx the design the logo everything!!! How is this allowed surely minx is copyrighted? Also I noticed that on minx it says patent pending does this mean you are allowed to copy it like this? If these are on the highstreet well I can see people going for them especialy as when you apply minx the client sees what they look like before they are applied so will recognise them straight away and think they are the same!!!!x

I was considering adding Minx to my treatment menu this year, but from what I have read I was under the impression they last longer than a few days?

It depends on the wearer just like enhancements. Minx last over 2 weeks on my fingernails but some people just have to play and 'test' and pick and prod and they are the ones that generally ruin one so then peel the lot off.

I tell clients that it depends entirely on them and how they treat their nails as to how long Minx will last ... I make no guarantees.

Minx last much longer on toes than on fingers (i.e. 4-6 weeks). Fingers are tricky because of the amount of solvents and detergents fingers are in on a constant basis.

As to Blixz, Minx are on it. Success brings leeches. Thats just a sad reality.

I have clients whom have had them on toes for 6 weeks me included, lol I have removed them myself as I got bored. They last alot longer on natural nails rather than enhancments.

Minx last perfectly well on enhancments and just as long as on natural nails IF the enhancement free edge is THIN. If enhancements are thick and the free edge rounded off instead of filed at a 45º sharp angle then Minx will tend to roll back at the free edge. The enhancement free edge should be thin and sharply angled before you apply Minx ... and when they are, I think you will find that Minx will last well.

yes whenever I have applied them to enhacments I do tend to thin them out and esp the free edge, I just find they seem to last longer generally on natutual nails generally on most people but not everyone. I have them on my own enhancments and they are fine for up to 2 weeks, only when I start picking do they need replacing and also when I need rebalance.

I can't wait for summer time find they get really popular in summer, esp on the toes, think they are going to be really big this summer, more so than last summer.

im new to minx so didnt expect them to last very long as i havent done as many as others but on my friends enhancements they lasted 2 weeks and then started to peel, and she has a baby so constantly washing etc also I put them on my 2 year old as she is just so girly and loves them she has had them on her grubby little fingers for a week and a half and still stuck well, she has fingers in mouth always getting dirty and loves longs baths so does really depend on the client, that said im going to take them off her fingers today as i dont want to know what can get under them with her being so young and nursery etc. Her toes are fine and so are mine and they have been on 2 weeks so far and still perfect.

Minx is available from 08452106060 (Sweet Squared the main UK distributor or any of their colleagues). However Minx would not be pleased to hear about you selling sets to clients as Minx are purely a salon service that clients should be coming to WE (the professionals) to apply. If Minx knew you were planning to supply sets to clients they would not supply you (why cut your own throat??? Crazy)

You will have to apply proof of certification to be able to buy Minx nail veneers.

I honestly don't think its ever a good idea to retail clients items specifically for professional application.

Like minx, gel etc.

i have had various training courses with cnd the last one was in 2002 first 1998 however have not trained at all with the minx line the blixz product is not a professional only product apparantley its available and retailable as a home nailart product also i dont do very much nail art what are the start upo prices for minx

You need to contact Sweet Squared on 08452106060 to get on their customer list. You will also need to have a copy of your accreditation to send to them or scan or fax to show them you're a professional. No prices are published on salon geek.

no you dont need a heat lamp or any specific solutions etc i prep the nails do all cuiticle work etc then just apply it they told me at the show about it being teflon coated and apparantley this is what makes it so hard wearinghowever i do agree in someways about retailing prof products to clients i dont know whether this product is proffessional only or whether they do a retail line also maybe best contact them as im not completely in the loop so to speak:biggrin:i just order it through the site

They have designs for nails which seem to have to be heat activated?
From £*** - £*** a pack, glitter ones too.
I believe they will make your own designs too but not sure?

can someone please explain to me why the heat activation makes for a better effect or finish as i have been fine with blixz maybe its the teflon coating they were on about but does the chemical reaction of glue under the heat guarentee a better bond please explain how it all works
