I didn't go into work today as my aunt passed away unexpectedly on Sat. I had a call from the owner today to say that a client whose nails I applied Thursday had come in today with 4 broken nails and is coming back this Thurs to have them fixed.
She's had 2 full sets before, the first French which she kept on 3 wks then soaked off and had natural tips applied as she didn't like the french look. I then heard from her 3 wks later saying that the nails were fab but she'd broken 2 and needed a rebalance
But couldn't afford it. I saw her a wk later with absolutely no product left on her nails and a few of her nail plates looked a bit red so I assume she'd removed them herself. I reapplied natural but used EzFlow tips instead of my usual CND as she said these
Were a closer colour to her own free edge and she didn't like the colour of the previous tips. I used gel bond but had trouble blending (shadows) so used natural powder over the top to try and camouflage slightly.
Do you think the problem may lie with the tips? If so should I soak off and reapply (bearing in mind it would be her 4th set since beginning of Dec)? The owner said the breakages were just at the tips, although I've not seen them yet. I don,t know what I should
Be looking for really as I've never really had a problem with breakages before believe it or not. I'm certain I built the apex up enough and they were the same length as usual, she has them quite short.
Please can someone help me?

Hi,
In the past I went through a short 'phase' of nails breaking at the tips until I realised that in my quest for super-thin nails, I wasn't applying enough product. I started to apply what I would consider to be a bit too much product and then file them down to an acceptable 'thinness'. I soon came to know automatically what was required, and saved myself a load of filing.
Could this be it ?

You say you have made sure the apex is built and that you don't have the same issues with other clients. It seems like your client has the problem and not you. All too often we assume it is something that we are/aren't doing. Tell your client to be careful and look after her nails. Nails don't look after themselves. Also make sure you are charging full price for breakages/repairs - she'll soon start looking after her nails.:)

I'm inclined to agree with you Christine as I KNOW I'm building enough apex, very rarely do I see a breakage in the salon, I'm just wondering if using diff tips could make that much of a difference. EzFlow are hardly low quality iykwim, but as i had some ghost shadows I assumed the actual fit of the tips wasn't great? Wondering if this would make a weaker enhancement?

I luv velocity tips. They fit so snugly. Although there are other great tips out there, a well fitted velocity tip gives me more confidence than others.

could be also that if this client has worn 4 sets since december she's just being a client and can't really decide what she wants. If she says she doens't like the color of the tips she's prolly breaking them off herself and blaming it on you. you may not be able too please her.

I saw her today and all the other nails were fine, actually better than I remember.
I replaced the 4 nails using the same tips (ezflow) as I'm not entirely convinced it's a tip issue.
I carry all of the CND tips plus these ezflow ones which she preffered the colour of.
Think I'm just going to see how she goes, Thanks for the help everyone.
