Hi All,
Hoping someone could advise me, I had a client tonight who had very disfigured large toe nails, the nails are actually dead and only hanging on by a thread. The client does not want to lose them but knows they are very unsightly. They are about 1 1/2" high and curling in very strange ways and very discoloured. This is due to various surgeries for ingrown toe nails. I told her I thought she should just let them come off, however I thought I read on here how someone attached a nail to the skin? Does anybody know anything about this? Any advise would be of great help!
Thanks in advance for anything you can suggest. I only wish I took a picture.:irked:
Cheers

I don't have a lot of experience with this but learned about it in school and have seen some minor stuff done. With LCN Pedique you can actually paint the nail on.. right on the skin, it will just grow out with the skin, or nail if there is any nail left. Have you used the Pedique gel at all? it is great :)

does anyone know if Brisa can do this??

www.arch-pain.com The podiatrist who runs the Web site, Dr. Robert Brodkin in Lamesa, Texas, says he would soon offer patients without nails a permanent option. He has invented a substitute toenail that can be connected to the foot bone with tiny titanium screws. Have them contact their doctor to find out if the procedure is available in their area.

i have done this before - the nails dont stay on long, but you could supply your client with gel bond -which is totally safe to use on a nail bed............. i also do different nails for the client to be able to change her "look" - ie. do a french, and a natural plus a clear -that way the client has the choice........

How long is not very long pleaes, one of my clients has asked about this today for a friend, she just wants it done for her hols.xx

Ive just re-read this, and got the wrong end of the stick - i thought you meant that the client had lost the toenail completely.

sorry for the confusion

Anyway...if there is no nail whatsoever, you would have to do as geeg posted in that one thread, create a few different false ones for her to wear and provide her with some gelbond and have her come in for you to clear the glue out from under it after each time or two. If there is anything at all to attach to, you can sculpt a toenail onto the skin. It must be kept very short to prevent it from being banged into things and tearing it off. And she must also be very mindful of moisture and bacteria being trapped under it. I would recommend teatree oil every day under the enhancement. I also would just suggest this during summer months when sandals are worn or vacation or special occasions. Perhaps if the old toenail was removed, a new one would have the opportunity to grow underneath the acrylic? Just a thought..
