I've been reading (with much interest) the recent threads regarding window stickers, but my question is...

do you have your car signed - yes i know about the magnets at vista and will go have a look at their window stickers too... but what about car graphics? Do you know of any professional but inexpensive ones?

Also, what happens is you want to sell your car, do they come off easily?

I have window roller blinds which advertise my services and telephone number. it attracts attention and gets me business. They cost about £11.00 for the two.

PM me if you want the details.

Thanks but i need something on the outside of my car as i have dark glass all round (except for the front window) lol

i know how people on here feel about ebay but i got a car window sign done, its just three lines and it cost £9 and was here in 2 days, it looks quite good i think, don't really know if it comes off easily but i would hope it does!

Hi, my other half does signs, banners, vehicle livery etc. Yes it will come off with a bit of patience, peel it off and rub it down with t-cut you wont be able to see, although the longer its on the harder it comes off (but it does, especially off windows). His email is [email protected] and if you email the measurements and wording he can give you a price and post it to you. Be a bit wary of the cheaper ones because its cheap vinyl and it will start cracking quite quickly and obviously I cant speak for them about getting them back off because it will probably be cheaper glue fixings. Hope that helps xx

Hiyah

I've got bright pink vinyl lettering on the back of my hubby's car,lol... he moaned about it being pink :) (I,m homebased Nail Tech) I bought mine off ebay, it peels off easily and without leaving a sticky residue behind.

I got mine from Vistaprint. Really good and really cheap!

I bought 4 of the magnetic signs from vistaprint when they first started doing them but lost 3 during the first couple of weeks (1 the very next day!). They are not very strong magnets so I personally wouldn't bother.

This week I had my car kitted out with proper signs and it only cost me £50. This includes 3 lines of text on back window glass, 2 lines of text on both rear quarter windows (estate car), web address on rear bumper and 1 line of text plus logo on both sides bodywork. I rather think that's a bargain

These can be fitted on the outside of the glass but may suffer from wear on the rear window where the windscreen wiper is.

Have a search on yell.com for your area and it's bound to come up with loads of companies that do this. Take a piccie of your car, upload to your computer and play around with putting lettering on it. Then you can visit some of the companies, show them your ideas for a quote and get their advice.

Cheers,
Hazel

Thanks for all your help, I'll get onto this when I'm back from my holiday. Off camping to france for a week, havent packed yet but, most importantly, got my gels and eye lash extensions on! lol

Maybe the vistaprint ones have improved becaue I've driven up and down the motorway in, around all the bendy Spanish roads and they are still on (gawd I hope I'm not tempting fate here!). I am well known for my assertive driving (some would say maniacal but I refuse to go along with that) so if they stay on for me they must be okay!!!!

Cute vinyl ads look much better than magnets. I've used Vistaprint for years and they are a great deal! ox

Like some of the other geeks on here, I too got my window vinyl from ebay, very good quality, reasonably priced and good communcation with the seller. Excellent. I agree with some of the geeks on here about ebay
and the products being poor but some things are good from ebay.

I purchased some bits and pieces for my gift bags from ebay saved a lot of money and are all good quality I also brought my vinyl lettering from ebay and my UV lamp from a lighting specialist on there who offers great after sales care so I guess you just have to shop around and be careful.

Mines bright pink too!!

It is very easy to remove vinyl lettering from your car,
warm the letters up first with a hair dryer on a low setting and they will peel straight off, then to remove the residue of glue give the panels a wipe over with white spirit,
this is how we do it at my other half's garage and it takes about 10 Min's, hth

I have just sold my car that had my graphics on. They do come off pretty easily. I just picked them off.
My friends husband owns his own graphics company so i got him to do mine. He's not far from Wimbledon hun, which isnt that far from you is it?? so if you are interested send me your details and i'll get him to call you.
He will find out the make of your car and make a design on the computer and you will see exactly how it will look. I think he sticks them on for free ,which some companies charge from £50 for!!

hiya,

I got my car signed just over a year ago and it has brought me a few new clients, its not just that though - it advertises your name and the more people see your car around the more that name will stick in their minds so if they then at some point need your services and go to look you up- say in the phone book, they will see your name again and will remember you. It makes an impression on people and shows them you are serious and proffessional.

The downside to it is that if you're anything like me and sometimes get in a tiddle when people almost crash into you on the road - your name and number is all over your car and someone who may pass after the other person has almost wiped you out wont have seen the reason your so annoyed! lol! (Ive been hit a few times by some very irresponsible drivers and almost wiped out by haulage lorry who decided to take a turning at the last second without checking his mirror first - so you can imagine how calm one was!!)
I do find sometimes that I feel a little paranoid driving aorund with my logo all over my car, feel that Ive always got to look my best - even when I feel like poo! I always find people stop me in the car park after ive hard a hard days shopping and look like ive never slept! Funny enough - those are the ones who dont seem to call me!

So there are good sides and bad sides to it. To be honest, I think when I get a new car I wont be getting it signed. I might get magnets instead though that I can out on just when im working..

You dont have any photos of it do you that i could see? i need to get mine done, iv got a baby pink and black smart forfour but all the pink panels are plastic so i cant have magnets  . I like the look of the silver mirror righting, i dont no what would work with it any idea's?

We had a smartie car at work and used company to put on vinyl. The car had to go to another branch so the telephone number had to b changed.

Left it with them and half hour later it was ready with the new number no evidence of the previous one either

My husband does mine as he owns a business that does car and building signage, and I got 2 spray tan bookings only yesterday from it. And I've had plenty previously....most of it becomes repeat business.

The one thing I would say is that done properly its a great asset to a business.......done badly, it can really put people off you.

IMO its worth the extra few pennies to get a pro to do it, as I've seen some truly awful jobs done before. Wonky lines, text that is so crammed up its hard to read, and peeling vinyl (which you tend to get from the ebay ones after a while as beleive me they use cheap quality vinyl) would certainly put me off using anyone, as opposed to attracting me to their business!

It's all about projecting a professional image.
