Looking for a few idea's here.......It's so quiet at the minute so i'm thinking up idea's to drum up a bit of trade in time for Christmas. I'm thinking of doing a Christmas evening for existing clients. Here's my idea's so far:-

Wine & Mince Pies
Minx Demo (i'm thinking maybe do 1 nail each on a few clients)
10% off any treatment that is booked that evening
With every Tan that is booked that evening they get so much off Tan products (not sure what i'll do for this yet but i'll think of something!!!)

Any other idea's?????

Hi That sounds good to me! I maybe wouldn't bother with the tan bit tho if they are already getting 10% off treatments. Demo is a fab idea! I'd love to be able to do this but I am mobile...
Or for the tan if you do want to make it an offer how about "book in for your December party season tan and get your January tan at half price(or something like that) then you get them in for a tan in dec with the 10% off and get customers booking for Jan when it's quieter?? hth :)

I like your idea for tan better than mine!!! I'm also doing vouchers for customers who come for a treatment in Dec, they will get a voucher to use in Jan giving them £5 off any treatment over £10 so will promote this too.
Why don't you hold one in someone's home.....maybe the person who hosts it you could demo a treatment on her for free? My salon is only very small so i'm limited as to what I can do.
Thanks for your idea's!!

Oh that's a good idea...will have to look and see who I can persuade! Thanks for that, my house has nowhere near enough space for anything like that...can I pinch your minx demo idea?!

Hi Sarah,

Seek advice from your local council before serving alcohol in your salon as you may need a licence. All the salons in Norwich received a, much publicised, threatening, letter last year

Here's a clip from the Telegraph:- Hairdressers face jail for offering customers mulled wine

jes

yes of course you can...i'm always pinching idea's off here!!!! You could also maybe invite someone who does Virgin Vie or Body Shop parties to come along aswell....in fact might do that myself if i can make the space for it!!!
Thanks Jes I will check that out...don't want to get myself into trouble!!!

Just speaking as a customer here, but I'd go to a salon that offered a package - whether in one visits - or to book 'block' visits for a course of treatments that would get me 'ready' for the Xmas parties etc ie specific facials, hair and body conditioning incl skin brushing etc, plus nail treatments, I'm sure my friends would go for it too :)

Do you mean to have the treatments done on the evening or just promoting them that evening?

bloody good idea. Could do face mapping, nail art demos, party hair/ hair up demos, All appoinments booked that night and honoured get a 10% discount.
Will get organising!

Done one last year. Use any reps from companies that will come in. We had our Dermalogica doing face mapping, and she sold a bit in retail. We had mince pies and stollen cake and mulled wine (which we heated in micro and put in black jug flasks) and served in cool glass purple mugs from ikea. Set it up retailing gifts and made it like a sort of christmas shopping evening. Done tan demos and booked in any appointments. Have to say, it's better to phone good clients and invite them, you'll get more turning up.

xx

Thanks for more idea's...keep them coming!!! None of the companies I use have reps...well if they do none have ever been to see me!!! When you did Tan demo's did you do full bodies or just maybe legs or something?

For those that have done this before, whats the best sort of date to hold it?

This might not help with your Christmas evening but we are planning to hold a

"Twelve Days of Christmas" promotion

Every person that has a treatment during the 12 days of christmas will get to choose an envelope decoration that will be hung on our christmas tree. Each envelope will contain a gift - anything from a free solar oil, 10% discount, 20% discount, free half leg wax, free mini manicure if a pedicure is booked, etc etc and one larger prize which we haven't decided on yet.

Only stipulation is that the prizes must be redeemed in January 2010, this will help increase our bookings for what can be a quiet time.

I hope this idea helps you out. Feel free to use the idea.

i like this idea alot... would you do it from 12-24th then?

That's what we had planned 12-24th December.

the twelve days of Christmas are actually after Christmas, twelth night is the epiphany( when the 3 kings arrived) when traditionally Christmas decorations are taken down. x

We done a tan demo on our Saturday girl, because you can see the results immediately, it looked really good. Just explained the procedure, aftercare, advantages etc.

I would avoid doing any discounts in December, because it will prob be busy anyway, although incentives to book for January would be good. New Year, New You sort of thing. Concentrate on packages that would make the client actually spend more, but add value. So including services or products that cost very little to offer into to the package.

If you make it more of social gathering and add educational hints and tips to promote services and products it won't seem so obviously selling.
