Hi ,
I have bought some Velocity Clear tips (curvy) CND.
I find them VERY hard... are they ment to be like this?.
I had trouble fitting them to the nail bed. I usually only use white tips but i have read a few posts on here about tipping bitten nails and thought I would try them out and make my own smile lines...

Did I buy the wrong thing or am I out of practise with tipping?.. Just that sometimes if natural nails are very short they look stupid stuck half way down their nail beds.
Thanks to those to reply

X Mel

Maybe you are a little out of pratise but don't forget that when blending, start at the free edge and move up toward the well so that the whole tip is thined out. Less tip = more product and the strength is in the product. You will find they blend very quickly done this way.

What type of c curve did your client have ?

When sized well IMO these are the best tips out there.

Do you mean you found the rigid in comparison to well less tips ?

I think hun it sounds like you're out of practise, that's all. You've gotten into the habbit of applying white tips close to the natural fe,give youself some practise time.

You can pretailor the tips to reduce the well exposing maximum nail plate, once blended hun,you shouldn't be able to see where they start. hth's

Thankyou..

Yes I ment Ridgid compared to the "softness" of white tips.. My clients that bite their nails normally have only 1/3 to 1/2 of their nail plates left and i find that because the velocity are so ridgid there is a huge gap as they are so high in the c curve..
I am thinking now I should use the CND gel bond and i should be ok.

Geeg.. thanks I would have started at the well .. not the free edge. Makes sense when you think about it.

If you continue to have the problems with these tips you would be better to try the clear performance tips from creative,
these are well less and very very thin so no blending is required and they are pre etched so once you have applied them to the nail (after your usual prep) you can get straight on with the application of your L&P hth

Hi Louise,
Thanks for that.. now that you mention it I am sure that CND Rep gave me a sample of these a while ago.. I did use them but i can't remember how they were...
Are they clear?... because i would still have the problem of seeing the tip thru the pink acrylic. I have tried to use CND Flawless pink but my ratio mix at the time was all over the shop and it looked "Yuck".. I still have a problem with knowing exactly where tp build the apex and seem to drag the pink into the white so a clearer powder lets me get away with it.

Yes love they are clear and very easy to use,
if you do all your whites first (all 10) and then apply your pink you will not be able to drag your pink into the white because the white will have set up, hth

Lousie thanks

I do all ten whites first , then go back and put the pink on.. but I am not sure if i am making the smile high enough to build a stress area.. does that make sense?..
so then to get the nice shape i have to pull over the pink a little... drives me mad...
I am trying to get help from my CND trainer but both of them have not called me back.. it has been 2 weeks and I am a little cranky about it too...

Yes hun that makes sense,
you have to build it high enough so that it creates a ledge for the pink to sit against rather than over,
if you need more product to get the shape (while you are waiting for help from your trainers) instead of pulling the pink over just butt it up to the white and then add clear product over the top of the pink and white to create the shape you want hth

Thanks,
That was my next question.. So that is ok to do... I have read and read all this stuff on here and trying to get it straight it my head,,
I seem to get a shadow in the pink and white.,. it is not crisp if i try and build the white to high... so i will try and keep the smile a little more contolled until i get more training and then I will bo ok...
So coat in clear and that should work..

Can I ask how long it took you to train in CND.. and $$$ did it cost aot?..

Yes it is ok to do it that way, it is not the ideal way as it will add 5 or 10 Min's to your service time but it will help you to get them looking nice without shadows and your trainer will show you how to do it perfectly when you both get together,
i completed my foundation course in June 2006 then went away and practised like mad, then in 2007 i took a skill builders course to reassure me that i was doing things right before i took on my salon,
i have done various training courses along the way and hope to do my masters when i can find some some spare time and money,
some people say it is expensive but for the quality of training that you get it is well worth it, you just need to practise and master what you have been shown before taking on a new challenge that way you don't forget things and waste money having to retrain hth
