Hi to all

I really like hot paraffin wax treatments but as I am going to work mobile I want to limit the amount of equipment to carry around.

I've seen a cold paraffin wax kit by Hive Solutions which contains sloughing peel, cold paraffin gel, bio thermic masque and finishing tonic but am not sure how effective this would be compared to hot wax.

Has anyone used this type of system? Is it any good?

Thanks for any advice,
Hazel

hiya, i havent used the cold paraffin wax but the warm wax is soooo great for clients. I'm mobile so totally get what you mean about not carrying around too much stuff, but I got a little paraffin wax heater from Capital. I cant find the one that I have on their website (bought it about a year ago) but there is another one that looks similar:

Capital Hair & Beauty Ltd - Hairdressing & Beauty Wholesalers - Deo Paraffin Wax Heater Kit

They are quite small and compact but you can get enough paraffin in it for a paraffin manicure or pedicure.. I dont dip the hands or feet into it - I put the melted wax into a plastic kidney dish first and allow it to cool enough before applying it to the skin with a brush..

Thanks for the info on the wax heater. It does look quite neat. Unfortunately I can't afford one at the moment as I'm only just setting up and have extremely limited funds (have to pay the mortgage next month!). With so many things to buy I decided to go for a decent foot spa first and wasn't going to offer the paraffin wax, but then when we did the training at college I thought it was sooo great on my feet that I was really tempted........foot spa......wax heater......foot spa......wax heater.........aaahhhhhrr WHY CAN'T I HAVE BOTH (stamps foot in rage)

I know what you mean! I set up last year and it was difficult finding the money to get everything I needed, I got a small loan from the Princes Trust in the end which was a great help!

I've just had a browse on ebay for you (i know! Some people hate ebay!!) BUT - i found exact mini heater that I've got for £24.99 + £5.95 p&p.
If you have a good look on there you may get one cheaper but that's a pretty good deal. I paid around £40 + VAT for mine and that was at Capital.
Here's the link to the same one that I have - might be worth a look at as its not much more than the cold starter kit and you can heat the paraffin in it..

ADB PROFESSIONAL WAXING LEG WAX POT/TUB HEATER/WARMER on eBay, also, Waxing Supplies, Hair Removal, Health Beauty (end time 24-May-08 19:32:05 BST)

Thanks for that link - it does look ideal for mobile. How long does it take to melt the wax enough for use? Also, any recommendations on brands or types of wax to use (something not too expensive)?
