There are so many different courses and qualifications out there but my question is what is the best way to go or does it simply depend or what course?

Your thoughts and experience appreciated.

hey MRSR

there are hundreds of courses out there hun,

do a search for training on here, there is hundreds of threads about it and some very interesting reading too

the only thing i would say is, whatever course/training you choose to do, make sure you check that the qualification you end up with is recognised and insurable, a costly mistake many of us have made, so make sure its a reputable company you train with and dont assume a college course will be better, it depends what your are training in and where, some geeks have taken college courses and loved it and learned loads, i took a vtct in mani/pedi and some of it was wrong and i had to teach he tutor a few things pmsl

so it really depends, have a read of some threads on here, then once youve decided what you want to do, ask the geeks have they been on the course youve chosen and get advice etc

It really depends on what you want to study, and what you want from the course, as well as your personal circumstances. I trained for 2 years full time at my college and did a BTec Nat Dip in Beauty therapy sciences, then went on to do other short courses, conversion courses etc - and have lots more planned for the future!

I'd say that your local college is a good place to start, and if they don't offer what you want then look at courses run by distributors etc, just make sure that whatever quals you end up with, that you'll be insurable - as some insurance companies may not recognise all quals (some quals arent really legit anyway!)

Also bear in mind that if you ever want to do conversion courses with creative, they do not accept the home learning nails course as enough prior learning.

best of luck chicken xx

I would research using the search button (for about a week) lol until you are sure that the training meets your needs.

One thing I didnt realise is that some courses are not recognised by insurance companies and you may also need to complete a conversion course with XXX company to enable you to use their products.

Research more before parting with your cash.

The more experienced geeks will give you more advice, the above are just a couple of pointers which I came across, I then changed my mind about the training company that I almost signed up to.

Hope that helps a little.

Thanks guys and thanks for the link.

I am doing my Swedish Body Massage through a college and will come out with a VTCT qualification which I know is the right one.

Nail wise I have searched and searched and worked out the CND course is the best.

I guess I knew the answer really and it is a point of researching isn't it and asking when it comes to each course.

I know in the very near future when I start the nails that will keep me busy up until I start my massage in September.

I did a 3 year HND course which has since completely changed. They are doing more fun things like nail enhancements, and they have all new facial and body electrical equipment. Also they get to use Dermalogica for the full three years instead of the final year only. They are now graded and the course is much tougher than when I did it.

Check them all out and see what they have to offer and make sure it is a recognised qualification that is insureable at the end. A lot of these colleges and private courses need clients so maybe you could go in "under cover" as a client to check them out?
