Hi :)
I Have been offered a job in a nail and beauty salon as a nail technician, on a commisssion basis, but the owner has left it to me to come up with a percentage. Could any body give me any feed back on what the going rate is at the moment.

Are you supplying your own products or is the salon

If you are supplying your own products go in at 70/30 poss 60/40 to you

If they are supplying products go in at 50/50 but be prepare to drop to 40/60

HTH'S

You need to be tough and ruthless in business. If the salon owner has asked you to come up with a figure offer them, a really low, 20% of your takings (you supply products). If they say no, suck air through your teeth (you know how I mean) pause and then add another 5%:)

Thanks for the feedback,

Yes i will be providing my own products. thanks for the feed back.

I provide all my products, table, advertising etc and I pay the owner 20%! I think you should go in with that and if its not accepted maybe ask for so many months at a low rate then add a bit on? x

Be careful. In my opinion this salon owner has probably asked you to come up with a figure because you might not know what to ask for or you might feel you are too pushy asking for the going rate. This way she could get you for less than if she gave a figure! This is business! Start at more than you want as she will almost certainly want to barter a bit! Good luck!:)

Hi guys had a chat with owner and she agreed to 20 per cent and a review after 1 month. with a view to renting a table.:) I'm new to geek site hope i'm doing ok. thanks for the info. Hope to chat again soon:)
