Hi Everyone,

I'm in need of your advice again please.
I have decided to go for the Creative Nail Design course held at Ellisons.
I am going to do the Signature5 Foundation course, but just before I do that, do you think I should do the Finger Nails Naturally - Manicure course first?

I want to get on and do my courses asap so any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks in advance

Diane

It depends on what you want to do with your business?

Manicures are easier to master more quickly which will give you a service to get started and make some money with until you learn the art of enhancement.

You cannot go wrong with CND manicure products which are all lush no matter which you choose to work with.

You cannot go wrong with CND enhancement products either or the incredible education that goes with them.

So in essence, you have made a very excellent choice and the rest is up to your personal 'game plan'.

Thanks for your reply.

My end goal is to be competent enough in all things nails.
My main interest is enhancements but I understand that not everyone will want enhancements, some people like my mum and my sister, have beautifully strong natural nails and would only be interested in enhancing the beauty instead of applying tips etc.

I don't want to get a client come to me and ask for a certain service and for me to reply with, sorry we don't do that here!

I've been looking through Creative's brochure and want to do everything, I'm just not sure of the order in which these things should be done.

I have also ordered 'Nailclass' from Mundo yesterday after reading everyone praising it, and can't wait for that to come through and help me on my way.

i would personally go with both, like Geeg said manicures are easier to master and you will have more opportunities offering more services. If your going to become a Nail technician i personally think that means offering manicures and pedicures as well as nail enhancements.

Also i use solar manicure, spa manicure & pedicure and raw earth pedicure, they are all absolutley devine. I have NEVER had a complaint about them only re-bookings and lots of 'oh thats smells gorgeous' lol.

Good luck hun

Thank you for your comments, I agree with what you are both saying, I need to be diverse and have my finger in more than one pie so to speak.

The spa manicure and pedicure look so good, I can't wait to do them.

I need to get over my phobia of feet before I start thinking about doing pedicures!

So do you both think that I should do the manicure first before the signature5 founation course? or could I come back to that at a later date?

Are these new/different courses? ive not heard them called that before?

Hi,

I would recommed you do your 5 day foundation first and then add the creative spa day on as day 6.
you'll cover your basic manicure steps on the foundation course, and then go into more depth on the spa day. x

Thanks Clara I didn't know you could do that, I thought I would do the 5 days and then get the qualification and then go back and do the Creative Spa as a seperate course going right from the beginning again, which doesn't really make sense now I've typed it, but your way sounds much better.
Anna, they are called this in the 'Right from the start' brochure.

I love this website, everyone is so helpful, I'm glad I stumbled across it now.

I have a master plan brochure...i didnt know there was a right from the start brochure..ill have to order one then...does anyone know of any other brochures im missing out on!? lol I dont like missing out!

Creative spa day is a separate course, but it can be 'added' onto the 5 day foundation as well, if you look in your 'right from the start' booklet you can do the signature foundation or foundation+ brisa or foundation + creative spa !

You'll love the spa day really great products !! I too had a fear of feet before my spa day .. got over that rather quickly !!

no anna there are 2! you can view them online too at the sweet squared website xx

I think there are just the 2 brochures.
I haven't done any courses at all before so that's probably why they sent me that one.
You can view the brochures online as well.

I can't wait til I can afford to do the courses, once I start I don't think I'll be able to stop!

Oh yeah Clara I see it now, I didn't realise that is what that meant! How silly of me lol

Thanks Ang, I already do love it here, I keep checking it every 5 minutes lol
I have to wait until april before I can do the course and that seems so far away, I want to do it now!
My sister is also as eager as me because she is going to be my model.

Oh there's another question I have for you guys, it says to bring a model on days 3, 4 and 5.
Day 3 I understand, my sister is coming along, then day 4 is that the same model so you can rebalance the nails you did 2 weeks before? and the same for day 5?
It seems like a really silly question to be asking but it's better to ask and look stupid than not asking and getting it wrong!

It doesn't HAVE to be the same model,
yep day 4 is your rebalance so it would be easier to bring the same model from day 3, but hopefully you'll have people queuing up for you to practice on !
and day 5 is your assessment day.

Day 5 makes sense now, I thought it a bit strange that you need one person with nails different on each hand. I understand it now.
I'm going to do the Foundation + Creative Spa, I can't believe I didnt't notice that you could do that.
My sister keeps asking about it so I think she wouldn't be happy if I didn't take her back with me on day 4 lol

Adding on manicures and pedicures to your portfolio will only enhance the "nail artisan" in you to be unleashed....i may just pop up to London myself on Monday to see what the "almond spa manicure".... is all about:)...

I am a huuuuuuge fan of feet and pedicures...they are one of the most if not the most popular treatment for nail technicians,if you naturally love treating the feet as i do:green:

Good luck with your course....just being around passionate, dedicated, people that CND have will only inspire you i am sure:hug:

As oon as you receive your first SpaPedicure, your 'feet issue' will be overcome, I promise:)

When I started my salon I told everyone I didn't 'do' pedicures:smack:, then I experienced it for myself.....the rest is history :)

Anna it's called 'Right from the Start' as it is for beginners. You wouldn't have been sent it because you are not a beginner!
