Hello!

I have narrowed my facial range down to Dibi or academie, I was wondering if you use either and what you think of them? or, have you ever had a facial using them? did you like them? did they give a WOW factor?

Also, if you use them, which treatments do you do and which do you like? Any dislikes? any comments to make about them at all?

I have had samples from both, both companies are lovely to do business with, helpful., fast etc etc, but I am really stuck on whihc one to choose!

I do the academie essential oil facial only. I love the facial as its empahsis is on natural and packed with essential oils.
I didn't want to stock any of the other facials by academie.

hippy- tell me more! is it that you love what it does so much that you are totally happy and that is why you dont use any other products fromthe academie range? what do your customers say about it? do you get lots of repeats? I hope you dont mind me bombarding you with questions but monday is my last day to place the order!!!!! YIKES!

Why is Monday the last day to place the order if you don't mind me asking ?

I don't want to go into lots of detail but I wasted a LOT of money stocking academie, I offered the essential oil facials and most of the anti ageing ones and I think the facials and products themselves are actually very nice but I found the products overpriced both trade and retail and there was very little marketing material, the literature they had got was very basic and the product descriptions were really odd, obviously the french manufactors had translated them but they were downright odd imo !

I really struggled to sell the retail due to there being very little information on the packaging (clients didn't really understand them) and the training was awful, although I must add the training I had was when it was distributed by the previous company so it may be completley different now.

The facials are lovely but when I changed to dermalogica all of my clients felt that dermalogica facials gave better results than academie also I was able to charge less for the dermalogica facials as the cost of the treatment is considerably less than academie !

Having said that the essential oil facial is divine and it is very much like decleors aromaplasty treatment.

I haven't heard of dibi so im afraid i can't comment on that range. Sorry I haven't been more positive on academie but having worked with quite a few ranges since being a therapist it really doesn't rate in my top ten. Sorry.

I am getting Dibi as my second range - however I like Academie also. I have been aware of Dibi since I was doing beauty the first time around so they are not new. I think choosing facial ranges or any range in fact is a very personal and a subjective decision. Get the rep to visit you for more in depth information and a facial. One person can say they had a bad experience with a company and another will say different. Look at your target market, company support, price range, ingredients etc and go for what feels right.

Can i ask what attracted you to Academie?

Academie can give the wow factor to clients...it is very under rated in the UK,but very big in other european countries.

The treatments and products go hand in hand,it is luxurious, hands on and can give results for every skin type and condition.

It has heritage, has been going for over 80 years,is family run in France,is now owned by a lovely dashing man named Pierre who is the grandson of the owner:)

If you need more info you can always PM me,and i will help:hug:

monday is the last day for me to order as i have my first pamper party on thursday night and we are doing facials! THe ladies going are my future salon clients so its doubly essential that the facials they have are wonderful .

thank you for being frank , i am grateful for your thoughts and experiences. I would love to go with dermalogica , BUT , I do not have the cash for a minimum order and I am really not comfortable with a minimum order policy. I think that in this recession, it would be mad of me to put myself in terrible debt , all for a facial range.

I used to live in italy and Dibi facials were so popular there, and on top of that the dibi guys simon and jonathon have been amazing, so so helpful and they cant do enough to help. I really rate the range too. I think if they can get people tp try it, it will be a big product in the UK in 10 years.

the academie is also a firm personal favourite of mine, I am attracted to it because of its history, its presence, and having had the facial samples i am impressed by its abilities. again the distributers in the UK in leeds are just lovely people, especially catherine, i use entity and china glaze, which they distribute and they are so nice to work with. I need to be able to work with people who sell the product. I m one of those people that need to have faith in whom i deal with or I just cant do it.

i will pm you if thats ok?

thank you all for your posts, very kind of you to offer your advice and guidance.

Hi Tigi,
I chose to use the essential oil facial only as I found the other facials were very result based but weren't as natural as I would have liked.

As my main area is holistics, I wanted the facial to fit in with my 'image'. The essential oil facial fits in beautifully, it uses 1 of 4 aromatherapy blends which is used throughout the facial to customise it (revitalise, purify, nutrion, hydration).
The toner is a floral water, the exfoliant is oatmeal, the facial oil is macademia, the mask is clay with carrot seed and chamomile and is applied over a piece of muslin or gauze.

All the products are the same for each client, it is the essential oil blend that is used to tailor it to suit the client, the moisturisers have the oils blended into them, so you need one of each of those.

I like the fact that you make the products up as the client is lying their, the exfoliant has the aroma blend added to it and the floral water, the mask is applied warm as you mix in warm water and the aroma blend.

I also use gerards which is essential oil and vegetable extract based.

hippy chick, thank you so much for that info. it was very very interesting. I want a results based facial range as I from the feedback i have been getting from my clients and potential clients is that , that sort of facial is what they want.

Right, I think I shall make a list of pros and cons, then give them each a call tomorrow and from the answers, make a choice (am a libran and not known for our decision making skills! lol)
