Hi, sorry to be so depressing! I just didnt know where to go for advice on this!! Ive been trading for 1yr and 4 months now as a mobile nail tech, I started with just doing manicure, pedicure treatments as well as offering little girls manicure parties, pamper eve's etc. It was going slow to start wityh but it did pick up a bit after a while and then nothing! Meanwhile, i qualified in nail extensions, so was hoping that would bring some business in, I've had a few clients for it but now nothing again!
I know the current economic state here doesnt help when starting a new business but Im just starting to feel like maybe im just not good enough!
Ive been running loyalty prgrammes, refer a friend, special prices for new treatments etc etc but im just not getting anywhere!
Theres a nail tech living just round the corner from me now and she seems to be doing well, but Ive just got no business at all, I dont have a lot of confidence in my nail extension skills to be honest and it makes me feel like i dont want to go out and do them, I paid a fortune for the course I still dont feel good enough, I have no idea how to sculpt as we werent taught this, I worry that someone with really bitten nails is going to ask to to apply some l&p - and I wont be bale to do it as I cant sculpt!

I just feel like maybe i should pack it all in! I love doing nails - i love the satisfaction I get from seeing people happy with the end result of a treatment! But on the other hand, i think that if i was good enough at what im doing id have some business! I though of doing a refresher course on l&p and would like to learn how to sculpt but have no idea where to go to do this and really cant afford to spend hundreds out on more courses when I have no work coming in!

chin up chick
dont give up just yet, when i first started out i felt like you do now, get your self on some refresher courses, leaflet drop, put cards in teh post office, shop window, get free listings on yell.com and thomson local

it will come it takes time and hard work
keep smiling
deb x

It will be fine im sure, why dont you use your free time to look into offering something alongside the nails whilst your quiet?

Is the nail tech around the corner using a diff product that may be more suited to her clients? Do you know what it is..could you offer it as well?

Lots of things to brain storm about

It could be worse:)

You need to invest into some one on one time with an educator that specialises in your treatments. Building your business isn't always easy and it certainly takes time, however that time and marketing investment is radically reduced when you invest first in your skill level.

Best of luck and keep yourself focused on building your dream :)

Ok heres my imput for what its worth.

Just over a year is no time.

I have come home from my room and cried that im no good and i cant do it and my works not good enough etc etc

THEN: I tell my self to stop dwelling in self pity, get off my arse and that i have no choice but to make this work.

I love my job - Most important thing.

I need more clients - walked for miles posting leaflets, advertised everywhere, shops, toilets, cafes = EVERYWHERE ! Set up a website (must finish it) lol

Go to every salon & ask if they would recommend you to their clients...

I sat in that salon day after day with not a single client sometimes.....

Now - after under a year i have had over 100 different clients through my door & I have a great deal of reg clients (should really count them). They passed on the word and so off it took!

I do a good job, they like me, they come back....It doesnt matter if it takes me 5 years to be fully booked every day - I WILL DO IT......

Theres a choice for you to make......Your little sign off quote says it all xx

Chin up, get out there and make them come to you !

good luck xxxxx

Is the tech round the corner from you mobile too???Being mobile can be the hardest.

Going to local salons may help with the mobile......If you could be the person they recommend that will bring lots of business your way....they may even offer you some space...

Worth a try xx

I agree that some additional training could be the way forward for you, to help boost your enhancement skills and following this, your confidence in providing enhancements will also have the boost it sounds like you need.

Good luck

Just to let you know, Sam Biddle is the Ezflow educator in your area, you could do a lot worse than getting on a one to one with her.

You need a confidence boost and some further training thats all. If you're not confident in what you're doing, your clients won't be confident either.

Do you have friends/a training hand you could practice on? Get practicing as much as possible and put the hard work in with leafleting etc. It does take a while to establish yourself but with hard work , you'll make it!! xx
