I recently qualified in manicure and pedicure and after reading some of the stuff on here decided to use solar oil and cuticle away, do I use solar oil in the same way I would cuticle oil ? - apply and then soak and then apply cuticle away? just wanted to check before I start using them! Thanks;)

Cuticle oil is usually applied at end of service not at the start.
Who did you train with?
I would speak to your educator if you are unsure of the procedure.
Solar oil is a brilliant product if used correctly, why apply a quality product if you are going to soak it off.
It would also help us to give you more informed information if you fill out your profile better, Ie who did you train with what systems do you use.

Might be wrong but I think she means using the oil first like a moisture pack , to protect the nails from absorbing to much water in the manicure process, oil based manicures are recomened instead of water based how about using the CND milk bath ? You can get it in citrus or almond mmmmmmmm :)

I trained at the Beauty Academy in Cambridge, sorry I haven't got round to filling in my details as I am very new to the site, I will do asap. I am quite sure of the procedure I was taught and my training manual is clear that after massaging cuticle oil in you then soak, roll on cuticle remover and push back cuticle, is this not correct??
Very confused now as I thought I was doing it correctly but I can see what your saying about washing it off.

i'd agree totally there. i have never been taught to use cuticle oil at the start of a service - only at the end!

Solar oil is very good for rubbing around the skin before a soak off as it protects the surrounding skin from drying out due to the acetone. hth

Exactly and it helps to stop the nails from absorbing to much water , I do this most of all in pedicures when I know there feet will be in that water for a while.
