I am very slow at nails, even Popits take me longer than they should.

I know I spend ages on prep but cannot seem to break the habit.

How long do you think each step should take ?

I've never actually timed each stage as I do it, but I reckon I spend 30-40 mins to prep and tip, 20-30 mins on my application and 15 mins to file/finish. Takes me longer in the winter waiting for product to set (l+p)!

Today I've done a nice straightforward french rebalance in 1 hour 20 mins and a full set in 1 hour 30 mins.......

Maybe you should put yourself under a bit of pressure (book clients closer together) and see if that helps with your speed - nothing like a deadline to focus the mind, lol!!

I recently got told that the time to aim for was 30 mins prep/tip, 30 mins application and 30 mins finishing off.

A girl can dream ...... :irked:

Well I usually take 1 and half hours for tip/scupt set. I have never timed each step but suppose it is same as Deena.

I really do struggle to see where I can cut that time down unless I do a set of poppits but still dont think I would be as quick as they should be.

I'm about 20-30 mins for prep on a rebalance. A client once timed me on application and that was about 10 mins per hand, finishing is quick, abut 10 mins in total....hmmm that makes 60 mins but I'm usually about an hour and 15 for rebalance and full set too x

When we're talking about the time it takes to do a full set/rebalance, it might be helpful to state if it's a more straightforward tip/one colour application or a forever French? We surely can't lump them both under the same banner, can we!?!

I know there are experienced techs out there who can manage to get a set/rebalance of the latter out in around an hour or just over!

Like I said, a girl can dream ...

When I worked at the Kiosk I had to do sets within 1hr 15mins, and my goal was 45mins.

I think my best time was 1hr 10mins

But that was with dry prep and stick and go tips. We did use pink and white powders though, and the time included a mini hand massage and hot towel at the end of the service.

:green: Wait for it girls.....my total time (not broken down step by step) is....................................................................................

2 hours 20 mins :irked: Hells teeth...I've got some speed building to do!!

Spending a lot of time on P.R.E.P. is gonna be worth it if you reduce service breakdown, as you know. There are other parts of the procedure you can speed up on before rushing P.R.E.P. :)

Here's a wee breakdown of how I'd normally split my time,

When taking 1 hour for for a full set of L&P or BrIsa Gel:
20mins for P.R.E.P
20-25mins for application
15-20mins for finishing

So, however long you are allowing for a full set, spending a third of that time on P.R.E.P. is about right.

If you are aiming for a 1 hour rebalance, and that's a good aim to have :):
20-30mins for file preparation
15-20mins for application
15-20mins for finishing

Of course, it's never good to rush the service you are performing just for the sake of speed, but breaking it down and working on speeding up each section of the procedure could make it easier to speed up overall.

Hope this helps!

Whenever these threads come up I feel so slow :) Especially now I only have a few clients, and neve after eachother so no deadline...

I prep in about 20 -25 mins
My aplication is maybe an 60-80 mins (I'm so gonna have this down)
Finishing is 20-25 mins
Thats a new set...

with a rebalance (thanks to the foreverfrench tut.) I'm about 90 minutes or less.....(not broken down...)
