Hi,

If you search Essential Nails in the search bar you'll find loads of threads, there's also an Essential Nails social group if you look in comunity at the top of the page which you can join.

Hope this helps

In my oppinion no. This method of training is ok if you have already had basic foundation training ( by a decent company) & want to brush up on your skills but for a compleat begginer no. Save your pennies & go with a classroom based company with a great rep. The training DVD might give you basic understanding but it cannot sit with you & answer your questions or watch you working. Dont make the same mistakes as many on here (inc me). If you want to be a good tech & have clients comming back time & time again then good foundation training is the key. Yes classroom based is a little more expensive but you get what you pay for & the last thing you want is to pay to do a course & then find you are still needing more support & have to book on a foundation course that is classroom based:hug:

I would recomend CND as the reputation is second to none as well as the training you will recive. I currently am not using CND but that is something I plan to change very shortly.

Goodluck & the guy's on this site will help you no end xx

It depends on what you want to do after you finish the course.

If you take this EN course as a start then fine . It is a start but it is not the end and you will need further training at the end of it. This is essentially true of all foundation training ... it is only the beginning. As long as you realise that then fine, but if you think you will be ready to enter the industry at the end of your EN course then you would be wrong.

Take it for what it is and move on. We all have to begin somewhere.

I did the EN home learn course for L&P and maintenance and would agree completely with all that has been said.

There is nothing essentially 'wrong' with the course, but it really does fall short on having someone physically there to 'look' at your method & technique as you are working and always will.

I found that even though I passed with credits & distinctions, when I actually worked on REAL nails I encountered REAL problems which you just don't get with a trainer nail, such as the dreaded lifting etc.

I was just gutted to find out that I can't even do a conversion course with S2 for the CND L&P products as they don't recognise the home study courses!?

I would like to add though, that I have improved tenfold since starting with L&P and this site is fantastic for help and guidance in general, and it has also helped me to find various free training and play days which have been a great help also, but I guess I'll just have to start saving AGAIN and go back to some further training as and when I can afford it!

The reasons for S2 not accepting the home learn course for conversion are quite simple ...

Creative have set the standard for those who use their product, and it is the underpinning more in depth knowledge that is totally missing from the EN course. It is important to have this knowledge if you are working on the public ,,, it is not just about how to make a nail. Your knowledge needs to be well rounded if you are going to become a nail authority. We like to know that our students have had that .. and a CND Conversion class cannot cover all that missing information ... it covers how to use CND. Our goal and responsibility is to prepare our students for WORK in the real world so they can make something of this business and not just 'play at it'.

I'm not for one moment suggesting that those that do EN courses are 'playing at it' but stating in general that CND are in the business to turn out professionals and CND does attract that type of person to their classes. Not all, but a good majority are very serious about wanting to earn a living from doing nails and our job is to prepare them for that and to lead them to a successful conclusion.

Brilliantly put Geeg......... I agree and underdstand completely - if I had a fabulous brand I wouldn't want any tom d*ck or harry just using my product as they thought best......... noooo way - just wish I had had this site before I chose my training.

jamiec2000, have a really good think about it. It seemed so simple for me to go with EN as is suited my situation at the time as with many others, to work at home at my own pace, but the skills you need to realise for this professions aren't easy come by and it really will take much more than a home study course.

As we are all saying, you just need to undersdand that it is not simply the immediate path to success and that if you choose to go down the EN route you will need to add more training to your schedule in time.

Hope that helps, as I said I just wish I had had this site at the time, so please use the help and guidance you receive wisely

Thanks for all your input - i will definately have a hard think. I've just had a baby - whose in hospital still so i've just got to figure what will be best to suit his and my needs at this current time. Thanks again for all your help x x x
