I did my training with glamlash last sunday. I've been practicing and have used all the collegen pads that came with the kit to cover the bottom eyelashes. How do you use the tape under the eyes? We were'nt shown what to do with it on the training? I'm scared of ripping peoples eyelashes out with it, or is that why you should put vaseline in the lower lashes?

you wont rip the lash its only micropore tape. just do it the same you would the patches...
open eye and look back and pop the tape on xx

de tac the tape a little on the back of your hand first.

if its still sticky ? when the client can open eyes . dab some eye fresh on tape with a cotton bud, watchinh no wet gets on new lashes.. it makes eyes feel nice and tape comes off without discomfort xx

when i did my lash training my trainer never mentioned anything about vaseline or using just the gel pads. what she shown me was to use up to like an inch of tape for one half of the lashes (client looking up and tape close to lid as possible without actually getting the tape in the eye) then do the same to the other half of the lashes. when you have done tape and put gel pad on get client to close eyes and you check from behind to see that the lashes lie straight and that no tape is sticking up through the lashes or pushing them up. it'd be so expensive if you just used gel pads. people whos lashes i've done have all said removing the tape is the worse part of having lashes done but none ave come out as far as i am aware. x

:Dthats why i dab micropore with eye brite liquid.... using a bud so it dosn't run onto the new lashes, this dampens the tape making it east to remove xx

i always use gel pads as i think they are more professional for this top end service and to be fair they work out at less than a £1 a pair.
I have tried tape but i thinkit is more fiddly and takes longer to apply therefore cuts down on valuable lashing time!
why not invest in some of the silco pads from beauty express they are re usuable after sterilisation and great for client who are sensitive to the gel patches x

I only use the eye gel pads as well, only ever use the tape if the client can't use the pads. When patch testing though I use micropore tape and just de-tac it first on the back of their hand.
I don't use vaseline anywhere on the lashes in case it gets onto the top lashes as this will effect the bond xxx

I only use gel patches and clients who came to me from other techs always commented on how pleased they were that I did not use tape. They do not work out expensive at all, anyway I rather pay more but know that my clients are comfortable...

Actually, now that I've tried the tape I actually prefer it. Its nice and thin compared to the pads and my models have said it doesn't feel as uncomfortable! Though nerves did kick in when it was time to take it off.

Expensive? This is included in treatment cost.
You will lose some clients once they tried treatment with gel pads. It is far more comfotable for them.
I would not have my eyelash treatment without eyepads.
Put yourself in client position.

thank you for your advice, i can't say i have ever read or heard any people who have had lash extensions comment on the use of only 1 gel pad per eye. until i see the paying public rioting about only 1 gel pad being used i will try not to worry.

the people i have done lashes on for practise i always ask at the end if they would like me to take the tape off or would they like to do it themselves. x

You know one of the problems I found with the pads, I don't know if this is the same for other pads too, but after a while they started to expand slightly where they were close to the eye. I think it might have been the moisture from the eye affecting them, although I was very careful not actually place them too close. The undersides of them developed a gelish gooish bit that by the end of the treatment was actually coming out from underneath and was practically touching the eyeballs when the clients opened their eyes.

Has anyone else had this?

when i first started i always used the tape and occasionally i still do but now i use just the pads, it really is all down to the clients eyes, eye shape and lashes some have very deep set eyes and i find i may need a little tape but its never been a problem removing it. Def dont use vaseline it could affect the bond.

I keep getting this too, so much so that on some of the eyelashes the glue is going on to the gel as well as the lash but obviously doesnt stick to the gel so leaves a little blob of glue on the lash which is rather annoying as you cant get it off without taking the lash off.

Is there anyway of stopping this? is it the brand of pads im using? i dont like the fact the gel seeps out a bit and starts going in the eye even though im doing exactly how i was taught on my training

If using tape, de-tack on clients forehead or on their hand, rather than your own skin, more hygenic.

I saw that tip previously on here, otherwise not nice to think your putting your dead skin cells on their skin...yyuuukkk

Yes I had the same problem today, not only did the gel creep up to my clients eye some of the gel bonded to the lash glue, nightmare.

Am considering using tape and then putting a gel pad over the top so they get a treatment but the gel doesn't creep up - any thought? xx

I wish there was were more on the subject of gel bonding with the glue and seeping out. I've recently been have the exact same problem but can't figure out what's changed. The gel runs in the eye too and you can see it in the lash line. Not visible to the naked eye...but I know it's there. Also bottom lashes popping out and sometimes getting in that gel/glue goo. This al just started happening two days ago. Have been lashing for 2 months the same way.

If the glue is running into the eye, then their eye is not properly closed. Before you start treatment you need to really carefully check all of your tape and pads to made sure they are not on the 'seal' part of the eyelid - the two parts of the eyelid that meet and create a tight seal. If the tape or pads are on this part of the lower lash, or are pushing the upper lid up, then the seal will break and you risk getting glue or vapours into the eye.
When you finish a treatment, their eye should be completely clear with no red patches or look bloodshot - if it does then you've got vapours or glue in the eye, which can cause damage to the sensitive eye membranes.
If you're not sure how to check this, you need to go back to your training provider and ask them to help you with more training.
