I've just started my NVQ Beauty Therapy Level 2 and we're currently doing facials. I'm very keen to start practising at home on friends and family and have even got my couch...just need to get blankets, more towels etc...

What I really need help with is what products to use.....I don't want to use my college products as I've already had a reaction to them, so quite wary to use them on someone else....

I don't want to buy really expensive products to practice with just yet, but at the same time don't want to use really cheap products e.g like from supermarkets. Reason being I want to charge a small fee to cover product costs, petrol to travel if I have to go to someone's house. I'm thinking of charging maybe just about £10 a facial. I just think that although someone is paying a small fee, they would still want a decent product being used on them.

I've looked in the beauty supplies catalogues, but can't seem to find anything I'm happy with or the requirement is to buy a full starter package, which I can't really afford.

With me being new to professional skincare for others, would any of you be able to recommend a range that I can use during practice time? What did you guys use? Ideally I would like a range that almost midway between low cost and pricey, but still good products?

Any help and advice, much appreciated! x

Thanks

Well, Eve Taylor are a professional range, with no minimum order. They are very popular on here. If you do a search on facial products, you will get tons of advice.
I did see a range in my local wholesalers recently. Its by the people who make the "thai manicure/pedicure" range. They seemed quite reasonable, although cant tell you what like to work with. Might be worth a look x.

I would say Eve-Taylor also.
I know they will only sell to qualified professionals but if you tell them that you are training and see what they can do for you hun.

I used to use dermalogica and changed to Eve-Taylor. My skin is very fussy and have to say I have had no reaction or broken out into spots. The creams are great, especially for people with oily skin as you can feel it moisturising but it doesn't at all feel oily! They are so cheap. I wish they were around when I was training!
Good luck sweetie xxx

i would def. suggest eve-taylor, affordable, natural, lovely smells, good luck

I would agree, Eve Taylor products are fantastic and very sensibly priced too, none of that ridiculous overpricing. They also have a no minimum order so you can't lose. Give them a call, they will help you out.

Could someone pm me an idea of pricing for Eve Taylor.

Many thanks,x

Hi hun, while I appreciate your enthusiasm I think if you charge people you may find that you run afoul of trading without liability insurance. Also this is likely from a tax point of view to look like you are running a business.
Until you can check this out and maybe get some sort of student insurance, it might be better for you to play safe and just practice on family and friends.
P.S. I love Eve Taylor and I have very sensitive skin:hug:

I was thinking this also - I didn't think you could work on members of the public until you were fully qualified and insured? xXx
