Hi, I am really fed up, I trained as a nail tech 5 years ago, unfortunatley I let the extensions slip and only did manicures and pedicures, I had been thinking of doing a refresher course for ages and finally decided to do one in May and I did a 121 NSI course in London, I have done quite a few sets of nails and all of them have cracked and chipped off at the free edge within about a week. Getting a bit dispondent, also find the filing off really hard work.
The lady who does my nails says that the NSI gel is quite a brittle gel, do you think I would be better doing a bio sculpture conversion course as it is more flexible, what do people think or is there a cheaper option as the gel is very expensive and I have already paid a lot of money out.
Thanks:irked:

I dont rate NSI gel for enhancements at all,
its ok for toe nail overlays but like you have experienced with finger nails it cracks and looks like shattered glass on the nail,
CND Brisa gel is great, it has the technology of L&P so is nice and strong for enhancements, hth

Hi Loubylou thanks for that, how do the prices of CND Brisa Gel compare to others.
Also is Brisa Gel a soak off gel, because it takes so long filing the gel down, its taking me 2 hrs to do a set of overlays.
thanks

For the quality of the product it is very reasonable in price,
for exact prices you would have to contact the suppliers sweet squared on 0845 210 6060
brisa is not a soak off but it does file off very easily as others on here who use it will agree

Thing is .. you won't have to file it off as you won't be getting the problems you are getting now .. it is the problems that are causing all this filing you are doing. I have never actually filed off a set of Brisa nails ever. Brisa is very strong but to file it is very easy and not like concrete. :green:

Filing off does not take too long, providing you de bulk with a 180 first.

Why were you so dispondent...if you give up too soon, you admit defeat, and enhancements are an ART,and requires perserverance.

I am getting dispondent because every set I have done has cracked on the free edge within a week, I don't know what I am doing wrong, my prep is as taught and have tried putting the gel on thicker, just so frustrated. It makes you dispondent after a while, I want to start building a business and can't if the overlayes are cracking within a week.

Do you cap the free edge?

Yes I do cap the free edge.

What if it is the product that is letting you down and not you at all? Ever thought of that one?

No because you are new and doubt yourself.

As has been said there are better alternatives out there and free days whee you can go and see and try etc etc. all you need to do is to get in touch with the right folks. 08452106060

Thanks for all the replies, will have to re-think.
What do people think of bio=sculpture

Hit the search button Becky and you'll see loads of threads about bio, I have used both NSI n CND and Brisa is Amazing. Search all three and make up your own mind.

have you thought of looking at lechats range of gels, they have a very reasonably priced range of soak off gel that is similar to bio sculpture and a harder traditional gel if you want strong file off gels.

thares a few tutorials on my sites that might give you a few ideas
or if you want to look at their range of gels, the web site is www.lechatnails.com

thats a great idea - I use Christrio Gelaquer which is similar and this way I dont have to invest in a complete soak-off system just a bottle of clear, pink and white. I dont use it often but its good to have.
