Hi everyone,
Although I am not certificated for doing L&P nails yet (just 3 weeks left), I am practicing a lot from the beginning of this year.
So, some of my models ask me to finish the acrylic nails with finish gloss (Brisa) as they want a permanent shine. My tutor doesn’t support this practice as it extends the full polymerization of the nails from 24h up to 48h, but doesn’t deny as well.
Do you offer finish gloss overlay to your L&P clients as well? And do they actually ask for that?

 What?? Please explain further what you mean here.

First of all your tutor is incorrect about the polymerization information and what does the end of the sentence mean, "but doesn't deny as well"???

Many use this practise and it is perfectly acceptable within the industry.

Well, my tutor considers that the finish gloss overlay and UV lamp extends the polymerization of the acrylic nails because in this case you can not use the Solar Oil after you file them what is considered as very crucial for polymerization.
I file them with hot-shot file then 180 grid file and then use the finish gloss overlay and put in UV lamp, so, but I have been taught that I should warn clients that in this way they should be very careful with the nails for next 48h as it takes longer them to get hard. Does it make sense?
So, my tutor doesn`t recommend the finish gloss overlay, but of course doesn`t forbid it.

Solar Oil is not CRUCIAL in the polymerization process but she is right in that it does speed it up. However Solar Oil speeds up polymerization by eliminating oxygen form the surface .... so also does using the Finishing Gloss I would think. In any case, you can also use Solar Oil over your Finishing gloss in just the same way.

Thanks Gigi,
it was good to know what has been offered to our clients and how it works :) Have a great day!
