Hi guys

I did my first full set on a 'real' client on Saturday (you may have read my earlier post).

The client walked away very pleased, however I just had a feeling that she would be back in touch. I don't mean to sound horrible, but she seemed like one of those who wants to get something for nothing

Anyway, she insisted I put a gel topcoat over her painted nails (I use Glaze N Go) - not a problem. When she walked out she was fully cured, with no problems.

She has just text me now to say that there are little bubbles in the gel? I've never had this before...any ideas why this might have happened? Anyway she asked in her text whether they need to be repaired, or if she should ignore it.

After reading Geeg's article on not giving anything for nothing, I resisted the urge to get down on my knees and beg for her forgiveness (I'm a pushover lol) - and I text her back to say that when she left they were perfectly smooth, and that whilst it won't damage her enhancements I'm more than happy to re-polish her on Saturday if she isn't happy.

What do you guys think? Feel a little disheartened, but again as in Geeg's article - must take this as a learning curve! Thanks guys :0)

I think that was a great answer for this client (well done hunni) and when you see her nails you can assess whether you think you need to offer a repolish for free or if she should pay if the damage is something she has done. If you think it is a product or application problem you'll have to take it on the chin and re do them.

Hey Geeg - well, it was a good answer thanks to your article on confidence lol! I'm just such a pushover and I'd give anything away to appease someone. When I read your article it did make me think - I've got to toughen up a bit :0)

Tbh, I think I've been misadvised somewhere along the line in my earlier training before CND conversion. I was told by someone on an earlier course that you could apply Glaze N Go as a topcoat over nail polish. I just assumed my tutor was right (note to self - don't always believe what you're told!) and she advised me that there were no other products that you could do this with. So here I am, Glaze N Go and UV lamp in hand (which I bought specifically to use with the GNG as I'm not offering gels) and now it won't work for what I was told it would? I wanted to offer a 'sheild' for the polish so my customers would get longer wear from it. My personal nail tech used a gel topcoat with no problems. Have I got the wrong end of the stick somewhere? Now searching on SG (even on lunch break lol...) I can see that GNG is not made for putting over polish?

God I'm so naive... :0) xxx

I don't use GNG but lots of geeks do so i'm sure you will soon get your answer. I use CND Air Dry which is very protective and very fast drying.

i think youve found your problem.
top gels of this type give a lovely finish over nail enhancements, but are not good if you have polished the nail first.

some people do have success if the polish is bone dry, but thats not very pactical ina salon situation.

Hi, I use glaze and go with no problems but i think you will find its not suitable to use over nail polish (please someone correct me if im wrong) NSI do a product called thermoshield which is for using over polish. HTH

No you cannot use Glaze and Go over polished nails, but you can use Star Nails Quattro uv top coat over polished nails when polished nails are fully dry (or you get that squishyness under the topcoat) :) You can buy this product from Sally's. hth x

glaze n go is not suitable over nail polish as it will probably crack etc.. nsi do a gel top coat thats specifically for use over nail polish its called thermoshield and this also has no tacky layer to remove.
glaze n go is only suitable for over acrylic or gel enhancements.
whilst i agree that star nails quattro is suitable over polish it does have a tacky layer to remove and is also nearly double the price of nsi thermoshiled.hths.x

I didn't know it had a tacky layer? I have used this a few times on myself and once on a friend and it didn't feel tacky to me, just nice smooth and shiney like a topcpoat should feel like :) What would you remove with? I will try that next time.

thats wierd im sure i remember mine having a tacky layer when i touched it  im sure it cant be because it didnt cure properly because i had not long changed my bulbs and i havent had problems with anything else.
i removed the tacky layer using my nsi cleanse.x
