Hi All,

Please can you all tell me what the price difference should be between a full set of extensions and maintenance?

I passed my final assessment tonight at college (maintenance) and I must say, I thought it took more work to do the maintenance than to do a full set, or maybe that is just me.

I am currently charging £25 for a full set of extensions and £15 for maintenance and £15 for a manicure and £15 for a pedicure. However, I feel that I should be charging more for a maintenance.

What price difference is there between your full sets and your maintenance. I charge £4 for a single tip replacement too.

BTW, I am currently only doing silk/acrylic. I've not yet trained to do L&P.

Have you checked out your local area , Google local salons and give a few a call using yellow pages, it is best to find out what people are charging locally to you for the treatments that you are offering .
In my local area I think 25 would be to much for silk or fiberglass , your area maybe different ,

Hi Mizzy,

£25 is cheap in my area. The girl who used to do my nails, using exactly the same products as I use is now charging £32 and another girl is charging £35 and agains she is using exactly the same products. A salon is charging £37.50 and the salon I used to go to used to charge £40 and that was four years ago when I was paying that. I never used to have maintenance, I always had a full set every month.

I was just wondering on average what the price differences were between the two.

Hi Mizzy,

.

This is what worry's me a little, in four years there is so much change in the industry,
I'd still be inclined to call around And see what others are doing and charging.
You could also ask them what Maintenance for wraps costs. .

And as you said you had a new set each time, because the nature of the resin used with wraps doesn't cross link the way other systems do they are a lot quicker to remove and replace instead of doing maintenance on them,
This is what I would more than likely do most of the time,Unless the nails wear in very good condition at the time of the appointment, but a new set especially if was going to be using white tips, ....

Maintenance is a fab thing to know and you will use the skills in L&P and gel ,

I charge £35 for a full set and £27 for maintenance. When I reviewed my prices recently I decided to leave my full set pricce the and increae my maintenance price from £25 to £27. This reflects that at least 50% of my appointments are rebalances and most of the time my rebalance appointments take as long as my full set appointments so I decided to close the gap a bit.....

I would also say to charge more for a 3 week maintenance than a 2 week as there may be more work to do. This will encourage people to come every 2 weeks and keep their nails in great condition.;)

I charge £36 full set, £28 for Backfill, £22 for an infill. I need to close the gap a bit too because i can sometimes do a full set quicker than a backfill! And the infill clients always want a polish after :( so that takes up my time also. I need to stay these prices until next april now because i only just recently put my prices up after gaining some salon experience and im moving salon's on monday, clients are following me so i don't want to p*ss them off by doing a price increase.

I agree that maintenance takes nearly the same time as a full set.
I have set my prices so that my full set prices are the same as my maintenance prices.

My basic full set price is £35
My rebalance (aka infil) price is £24
My French rebalance is £34
And if clients would like a polish finish it is an extra £5 ...

£25 for full set and rebalance @ 2-3 weeksis £20 any more than 3 weeks and it is the price of full set. I charge that much for tip and overlay and free form sculpts which I predominantly do if I can. Where I am from people some people would see if the price of a rebalance is the same as fs then some wud opt for a full set every month which is something I do not want to do. I do not do infill only full Pink and white or one colour rebalances, my prices are going up to £30 full set and £26 for a rebalance.

I find myself getting frustrated lately as I see much improvment with my work and getting lots of referals etc yet I am now wise to the fact as of this evening I can do 3 sets of minx in the time it takes me to do a full set but get nearly 3 times more in money :O the same goes for shellac I love the fact that it takes 30, 40 min to do a full set and get again the near enough same as a rebalance, yet my clients are back in 2 weeks time, no lifting, cracks, missing nails, just beautifull natural strong shiny nails,,, WOW 10 mins to remove, then re apply 60mins in and out no hassle,,,,,,,,,,,,,, I love doing L&P but seriously thing that all us GOOD nail techs need to forget what nails by madge down the road charges and start charging for what we are worth, as at the end of the day take away costs, and time what some are charging its not even mimimum wage, we could all work in a supermarket, shop, cafe etc and get paid that wage, I for one have invested in my education to do good long lasting nail enhancments and at the risk of loosing clients or not gaining the odd few clients ( the special occasion ones) I feel I need to increase my prices for L&P enhancments and stop letting clients dictate to me what THEY want to pay for.

Sorry rant over, had one of those days been out since 8am got in at 10pm and went from bad to worse and am really angry with myself for being weak and letting clients wall all over me,,,argghhhhh lol xxxx
