I Use Light Elegance Gels. most of the time when clients come back for fill there is lifting at the free edge. and lifting starts at the corners of free edge. After a week, it normally starts and of course gets worse from there. It happens when tips are used and it also happens on the natural overlay nail too. It happens to most of the clients i have done and most of the free edges are effected.

I did a natural overlay on my nails and it has done the same thing.
These are my steps:
1- remove dead cuticle by applying cuticle remover (CND) and then push back.
2- wipe off excess and sanitize with scrub fresh (CND)
3-buff nail
4-put tip on (if needed) size and buff.
5- sanitize with Scrub fresh(CND) make nail looks chalky
6- apply bonder. cure 2 min. (I USE BRISA UV LAMP AND BULBS ARE GOOD)
7- apply either 1step or extreme- cure 2 min (sometimes I cured 30 sec so gel wouldn't run and when finished hand then cure for 2 min. again)
8-wipe sticky with scrub fresh(CND)
9- buff and shape
10- apply White art for french tips. cure 2 min.
11- apply super shiny- cure for 2min.
12-wipe off sticky
13-apply cuticle oil. Finished

Can anyone suggest what might be the problem? HELP!

Are you cleaning the nail with Cool Blue or ScrubFresh? I'm afraid I can't be of much more help as I'm not educated in LE, my next question of course would be does LE recommend that you use the Brisa lamp to cure their gel?

Sorry It's SCRUB FRESH. and Yes a Brisa lamp can be used. This has also happened when I have Used the Brisa Gels too.
thanks

Would you please fill in your profile?

I have highligted just a few things, but mainly why are you using Brisa lamp with another gel line??? That could certainly be the biggest problem you have. (we must have written at the same time) But who says you can use brisa lamp on LE gels????

I have answered though I'm considering not to, because from your profile I cannot se if you are trained, and some of the things you have described, have left me doubtful whether you trained or not.

Do you use a cuticle tool that really removes all traces of cuticle.
2- wipe off excess and sanitize with cool blue (CND)
I have been told you need to wash of with soap and water or at least water. If it's not rinsed away it can cause lifting.
3-buff nail
4-put tip on (if needed) size and buff.

Cool blue?? Don't you mean scrub fresh??? And you really need to scrub with it.
6- apply bonder. cure 2 min. (I USE BRISA UV LAMP AND BULBS ARE GOOD)

Do you scrub in first thin layer very well before first thicker layer??
8-wipe sticky with cool blue(CND)
I assume you mean scrubfresh again
9- buff and shape
10- apply White art for french tips. cure 2 min.
11- apply super shiny- cure for 2min.

I think your problem is that you are not capping the free edge with the gel. This will deffo cause the type of lifting you are talking about. hth's

The LE Rep said that the Brisa Lamp can be used. And if it was the lamp that was causing this, wouldn't you think that the gel would just pop right off or lift elsewhere?. It only lifts at the free edge not anywhere else... And yes I am a Trained and licensed Esthetician.
Thank you

I will pay more attention to capping free edge. hopefully that helps
Thanks Maggie

I'm surprised that a brisa lamp would cure that, as the brisa lamp is quite different than other lamps:hug:

But I'm not nearly experienced enough to put accurate facts about that, so hopefully, if I'm not wrong about the lamp being the problem, somebody else can help with that.

Do they have the kind of nails that are thin and peel? Thin flaky nails that peel do this, especially if they use their nails as tools- the enhancement will peel away with the flaky bits of nail, even when you cap the free edge. Tell them not to use them to pick or scratch at things, it will make it worse. Sometimes not picking or using the nails to scratch at things will completely resolve the issue. Good luck!

Has anyone mentioned etching the tip with the 180 grit side of the file? This MUST BE DONE. Then capping the sides as well as the free edge is essential.

Do those 2 things and you should have no more problems.

You do need to pull back the sides to the nail....(the skin) to expose those edges and cap them well....quite often its easy to miss the free edge on the sides of nails...or to touch the skin because we are not pulling that skin away from the nail.
