I am fairly new to using Gel. Used a new pot of clear gel a couple of days ago and sealed it tightly when I had finished. Tried to use it last night and it is starting to harden in the pot! What have I done wrong? :irked:
Last night put the pot in the microwave for about 10 seconds!! But won't do this again - there was a loud crack so quickly took it out. Then put it into a bowl of warm water and covered with a plate - it's gone back to how it should be. Doing a set tonight (on a friend thank goodness) so I'll let you all know if it's still OK!! Hi there - could be a few things. Is it under a light? Is it really cold in the room? My white gel will harden up when cold - I just set it on my gel lamp and turn the lamp on and it softens up quickly. When you were using it - did you have it near your lamp?

Have a great day

It could just be cold, therefore harder to work with, you could have had it close to your UV lamp while you were working (with the lid off) or the sun may even have started curing it whioe it was out with the lid off - esp if you were working by a window with direct sunlight or in a conservatory.

One of my clients wanted me to do her nails once in the back garden as the weather was really nice-before long it went cloudy & really cold & my pot of gel went hard! Either that or maybe the top left off whilst curing?

sounds like it was cold and therefore thicker - especially as it went back to normal when you warmed it up.

For God's sake don't anyone put nail products in the microwave though!!

Yes I put the lid on in between uses and try to keep it away from the UV light, I never though about the cold but that is something to keep in mind yeah.. :)
