Just some interesting news from my aunt who is an anaethetist.
I wrote to her after reading the post about a perm that didn't work on one side of a lady's hair.
My aunt wrote back:

"i do know that general anaesthetics definitely affect hair , colour as well as perms.
I also advise patients not to do chemicals until 6 weeks after* an op.
If the client had an eye block all the nerves on the one side of the head were affected.
Local blocks have an effect on the calcium channels as well as sodium channels. it can certainly effect
the hair follicle.* if it was new growth the hair will probably remain until the next bunch of new hair appears.
I will print this *letter that you wrote, and will *ask the question to some of the lecturers. Will definitely get back to you.
I am not surprised, but astonished to the effect it had on the clients hair!!"

So there you have it!

Anyone else got any stories of anaesthetic or other medications that affect hair chemicals, that you have seen yourself?

Great info thanks:) x x
