I use predominantly MAC as I get good discounts but my kit costs around £200 a month to update.

I love some of the colours of Barry M and GOSH and wondered if anyone here uses them on the general public.

My kit consists of Some Benefit and Stila too but need more fashion colours for the prom/catwalk market.

What do you use?

What is the one make up item in your kit that is priceless?

Mine is sephoras Fix spray. Like hair spray for the face it fixes make up in place all day long. I also love She Laq from Benefit as it fixes eye make up in place.

Does anyone else travel to paris to go to sephora like me since they shut down in the UK?

I do have some GOSH products I use on clients - infact I have probably about 10 different makes of products in my pro kit although I do have one prominent mineral makeup brand.

But I dont think the size of my kit or my number of makeup clients is anywhere near the £200 per month to replenish. Wish I had enough makeup clients to warrant going to Paris to replenish it all though. How many clients per month do you service to use that amount of products?

I do a lot of catwalk/photo shoot work at £250 a day, however I sometimes get paid a grand a day depending on location and work involved.

I need some deep pigmented colours for vivid photo work and MAC is excellent but just wondering if I should give GOSH and Barry M ago. I used to personally wear Barry M myself as a kid!

I used leichener on theatre work which I beleive is really old school. But it seems to be the only thing they want you to use on them!

It only costs £200 to paris and back (its a day or weekend out!) Its an excuse for time away and I love it!

Sephora is ace!

Wow i am so envious, this would be my ideal job. I have recently taken on the artdeco range and they have lots of deep pigmented colours and they are reasonable costs too. They also bring out new colours/trends every season.

Can you tell me how you got to work in the industry like you do?

sheer luck! Being in the right places at the right time. You need to network with people at shows, photographers and agencies etc.

Get your portfolio out to as many people as possible.

Once your in your in. When someone sees your good the work comes in thick and fast.

I started mainly on bridals, then did bridal catwalk shows makeup then got in with photographers who then worked in the media who in turn called me.

Hope that makes sense. Kate x
