IN ALL SERIOUSNESS, MAYBE MAKE A POLL ASKING WHETHER THEY SHOULD BE SEPARATE?
THE ADMIN MAY LISTEN TO THE MAJORITY?!

Admin has already came on and said it's not gonna happen think people just need to deal with it and move on it's going round in circles there's been tons of threads like this rather than moan we should just be grateful xx

About time someone said it , i have felt like this for a while , don't get me wrong love a good set of extensions but feel this form is overloaded with extension topics

In understand theyve said no. However a simple poll wont hurt. At least then they can see how the majority feels.
They should, regardless of their final decision, be listening to the views of their users. Id like to hope they do.

To be honest I think they more than listen to us I sometimes find it annoying with the hair forum but doing a poll isn't going to change their mind I think rather than us moaning and nitpicking we should just be grateful there is a forum like this that helps everyone in so many ways the admins have said no only just earlier so why keep it going xx

Is it just me who finds it that the admin who came on the post to moderate in a hair forum is a nail geek and couldn't give a toss either way whether there's a difference between NVQ Qualifiations and a Hair Extension 3 day course in the industry's professional difference? So with nails only being a few day course they should be covered under beauty shouldn't they?

That'l be the same admin that's gives up his/her free time to come on and moderate this FREE forum I mean come wer not making ourselves look very professional saying things like this as I said it does also annoy me but I'm just grateful this site is here as it's helped massively I think for anyone who find it that annoying or that bad maybe they should sign up to another forum xx

Soooo, someone added a poll. Kinda figured it would be more 'should we have separate forums for hairdressers and non-hairdresser qualified extensionists'

Not the very rude sounding poll added :/

With the above poll question, you're not going to get a response from extensionists, a lot of whom agree that they should be separated...it just sounds rather insulting.

Sorry but as a beauty geek and extension tech I need to clarify Nails aren't a few days course.
You can get "qualified" doing a one day course but to be honest you wouldn't be able to do nails after it!
I've done a one day cutting course so I can blend extensions but no way does this mean I can cut hair.

Admin are here to moderate the site in general to make sure people are following the rules etc makes no difference if they do nail, hair, beauty...whatever x

Same principle though that an acrylic course can be done in 3 day the same as an extension course as offered by lots of suppliers. It wasn't a dig it was just pointing out

Fair point, but all I'm saying is, should admin no be set according to there geek ism to monitor that forum and understand the differences more.
Like you wouldn't expect a beauty therapy tutor to teach hairdressing and be able to answer queries. I understand and appreciate it's volunteer ran but surely different admins to admin different things instead of everything. The term jack of all trades master of none...
Get more volunteer admins to a few hours or a night a week. I'm sure most of us would volunteer and find some time for a site that helps us all

But their not answering hair queries their answering a basic question about different sections to the forum I honestly do understand what your saying x

Admin are not teaching or advising on fields they're not qualified in, as stated they are here in their own time for free, unpaid, to make sure the rules are not broken, so we can all come on here for whatever reason we need to :)

I'm not saying they are I'm using it as an example. All I'm saying is an admin that doesn't do hair may not understand why some people want a separate forum or sub forum as they would for different things in there industry sector. And if people cans comprehend why something is wanted by some people it could just be dismissed and ideas not passed on to other admins.
I.e. It's very rare in work I actually remember to sort out marketing for our beauty salons because it's not what I'm passionate about and don't understand why the therapists want different things for there clients like more green and fruit teas etc

I'm not trying to start an argument with you, but if anyone is writing a thread like that they're not a hairdresser.

Saying that is like saying it should just be hair extension questions not colour and actual hairdressing questions.

Think you might be missing the point, the point is 2 seperate forums, not how someone quotes examples of hairdressing posts ;-)

That is correct. Moderators are here to ensure rules are complied with, as well as to assist with site questions or concerns, totally irrespective of their chosen professional capacities I may add.

PS: I do actually give a toss LOL.

As the owner, founder, admin, nail geek and hair geek I am here to answer all of your questions. And much more.

Specifically; where should all these extensionist posts go?

In the Biz Geek section? Naaa. In the Nail Geek section? Don't think so! Skin Geek? hmmm.

You see where I am going with this don't you?

The subject is ultimately about... you know... hair. It would be super to have every single element of hair sub divided into tiny, neat and discrete sub forums so that we wouldn't inconvenience you with content that you obviously feel is beneath you, but how would we deal with posts that covered multiple subjects? Sub division of content makes forums a mess (go to a forum with more than 20 sub forums to see what I mean). Multiple sub forums also creates a lot of slow moving, long to navigate, messy content. We had the Nails Forums sub divided at one stage and I merged them back together because it simply didn't work.

And really... There is a much, much larger argument to segment the Skin Geek Forum (tanning, waxing, holistic, massage, Lashes, etc....) and though this topic comes up occasionally, I don't think I have seen any of them single handedly insult the other in such a blasé way.

Do we need a better way to "aggregate" topics more important to us individually? Hell yes. I also think I know how we can do it. But these changes won't happen over night and may not even happen at all.

In the meantime I ask that you treat others with respect to their chosen pursuits and profession. And fill out your experience/work history I developed primarily at the request of hair professionals wanting to ensure they differentiated themselves from "extensionists".

High Five Hair Pros.

PS - your poll sucked so I have removed it.

You just need to be human not an expert in any field to be able to admin a forum. At the end of this forum is free and a valuable source of info, if you are not happy with it then why not just leave it?

Well I'm glad you do, so with respect that more than may self have said they'd prefer a seperate forum or even shbforum so it's still under the hair umbrella, why are salon geek not prepared to change. Rules say it's not a consumer forum, yet extensionists without hairdressing training looking for colouring and cutting questions are "consumers/non professionals" (NVQ standard hairdressing professionals) they are professional in there own right in the extension field x

There are some forums that have seperate sub-catagories for cutting, colouring, perming, extensions etc. but in my opinion it can make using the forums more long winded UNLESS you have a very high volume of threads being posed.

But I don't see it as an issue here since I can scroll through the list of new threads in about 10 seconds.

If there was so many extension threads that the other threads were getting buried underneath then I would understand the need for seperation, but I don't think that is happerning.

Evan if the extension threads were moved it doesn't mean there would be more 'hairdressing' threads.

Stylists that specialise in cutting could say they are fed up with all the colour threads on here :p
