Well I'm glad you do, so with respect that more than may self have said they'd prefer a seperate forum or even shbforum so it's still under the hair umbrella, why are salon geek not prepared to change. Rules say it's not a consumer forum, yet extensionists without hairdressing training looking for colouring and cutting questions are "consumers/non professionals" (NVQ standard hairdressing professionals) they are professional in there own right in the extension field x

Are you qualified in extensions charley? Just asking as you were recommending extension suppliers earlier for tape extensions, lol

As the owner, founder, admin, nail geek and hair geek I am here to answer all of your questions. And much more.

Specifically; where should all these extensionist posts go?

In the Biz Geek section? Naaa. In the Nail Geek section? Don't think so! Skin Geek? hmmm.

You see where I am going with this don't you?

The subject is ultimately about... you know... hair. It would be super to have every single element of hair sub divided into tiny, neat and discrete sub forums so that we wouldn't inconvenience you with content that you obviously feel is beneath you, but how would we deal with posts that covered multiple subjects? Sub division of content makes forums a mess (go to a forum with more than 20 sub forums to see what I mean). Multiple sub forums also creates a lot of slow moving, long to navigate, messy content. We had the Nails Forums sub divided at one stage and I merged them back together because it simply didn't work.

And really... There is a much, much larger argument to segment the Skin Geek Forum (tanning, waxing, holistic, massage, Lashes, etc....) and though this topic comes up occasionally, I don't think I have seen any of them single handedly insult the other in such a blasé way.

Do we need a better way to "aggregate" topics more important to us individually? Hell yes. I also think I know how we can do it. But these changes won't happen over night and may not even happen at all.

In the meantime I ask that you treat others with respect to their chosen pursuits and profession. And fill out your experience/work history I developed primarily at the request of hair professionals wanting to ensure they differentiated themselves from "extensionists".

High Five Hair Pros.

PS - your poll sucked so I have removed it.

Lol high five 👍

Yeah I am, I do single bond and tape in. Aswell as teaching NVQ Levels 2&3 to post16 year olds and working in hairdressing the rest of my week. However my point was not many extension questions are cross related to general NVQ hair things and hence why a seperate forum may have been a better idea for them. Seperate qualifications/professions in different things. Beauty nails hair extensions

BOOM

Bang on admin.

Everyone just needs to stop being snobs.
If you've done 3 years in school to become a hairdresser- amazing.
If you did a 1 month hairdressing course- amazing
If you did a 1 day colour course- amazing
Long term extension course- amazing
1 day extension course- amazing

see where im heading here....regardless of what you think of someones qualifications, they ARE accredited qualifications. & if you feel it is in someway beneath you? STUFF RIGHT OFF. We all strive to be the best in our chosen field and should be supporting each other in that as professionals.

You cannot compare an extensionist to a colour technician or the likes....2 completely different fountains of knowledge, 2 completely different qualifications.

COOL :)

Exactly.... Completly different qualifications

Yeah it maybe different things..

But on skin geek someone who specialises in eye lashes and someone who on tattoos eyebrows for a living are two totally different things yet they share a forum. Intact skin has a lot more variations then hair. Just scroll... Scroll on by.

This just made me fall off the sofa laughing. Samuel, you are the Boss!! LOL!

Charley, maybe you need to concentrate more on extensions then you might be too busy to get annoyed with the forum ... ;) haha

Your absolutely right. Yes there should be a separate forum. Also the profile part we fill out about ourselves shouldn't just have hair as the extension only geeks also click this , doing only extensions doesn't make you a hairdresser or give you the extent knowledge we have trained & worked our butts off for. As well as having a separate forum the profile should be changed so when viewed we know if the person is hair or extension only.

Wow what an ignorant statement...so according to you, an extensions sits on their butt and does nothing? Whereas a hairdresser works their butt off? It would seem that the only difference is that you possess a rather ridiculous arrogance that as a hair dresser you are some sort of higher being than a mere mortal hair extensionist.

The one thing that you SHOULD have in common with EVERYONE else is a to be a professional in your field.. Professionalism is not taught, nor can you work your butt off for it, it is how you apply your skills and approach your work, no matter what field you are in. Ticking a box means nothing, apart from the fact that you will probably incorrectly assume if they are an extensionist they are lazy, untrained and possess no knowledge

Perhaps you should read through your posts before hitting the submit button as they do not come across very well at all

Charley does it really matter the the Extentionists and hairdressers are together under the same heading?
I'm a hairdresser and know absolutely jack about extensions! I know more about house extensions lol.

There are no "them" and "us" in this industry, not even the lovely skin and nail geeks - we all chose our professions, no matter what they are, for 2 reasons ...for our love of it and ultimately to get that buzz making someone feel and look amazing.

Chill Gurl :) we all have buttons and tabs on our phones and big screens and the option to scroll - just use the boards for what they are intended, to share and learn £1,000,000,000's of pounds worth of valuable information for FREE on ALL professions and all fields in our industries

Xx

What I was meaning is that hairdressers have more knowledge when it comes to hair as we have to learn all aspects of hair. To become a hairdresser takes a long time & I was meaning we train long & hard when I said about working our butts off. I'm no way saying extensionists are lazy as I do a lot of plait extensions & weave so know what it's like standing on your feet 4-5 hrs at a time with sore tired hands. Extensionists work hard to but the training is different hairdressing training can take yrs . I wasn't trying to say extensionists are lazy at all.

No my post was not to cause a argument I was saying by having different options on the profile we know if the person is a hairdresser or extensionist this way we will know when giving out information. If a extensionist asks a hairdressing question say about colour & we looked at the profile we could think ah ok they are a hairdresser & give the info out when the person asking isn't actually qualified in the service. That's all I was getting at .

I was just replying to you on the whole subject

Well, as 'the geek' has spoken and made it clear that he regards people who train for a day or two to be the exact same as people who train for years

Did I? Thats odd as:

A) I do not feel that way
B) I never said anything close to that

But thanks for the opportunity for me to clear up things that I did not say, do, nor feel.

Contort much?

I'm confused where this has all came from. No one even stated we know more then hairdressers or are even the same. One thing were all aiming for is to be professionals.
