Hi Guys,

I have a client who is a hairdressers and for her wedding we did a ibd french overlay. they were gorgeous she had 3 wk honeymoom, came back back for her infills and they were great!

Now however she is back at work and they have lifted round the cuticle and sidewalls. Three of her fingers she says she always gets tooth paste on them and you can see they have lifted but the other hand has too(i have other ladies in different work places no llifting). she is a manager so she doesnt shampoo but obviously handles wet hair alot.

I dont know wether to try acrylic to see if that is any better or hairdressers just cant have nails, whats your experience and advice?

thanks in advance
xx

Starting to think i smell or something ive put a couple of threads on and no replies:cry: xxx

I have three hairdresser clients and find that gel works better on them than L&P. But , its worth trying her with L&P and seeing how she gets on. I do find that my hairdresser ladies do seem to need to more TLC when it comes to their enhancements. They lose them more often and seem to just generally wreck them.

Hi, i had my first set of gell overlays, french manicure, and i'm a hairdresser. I work for myself as a mobile so i do everything! My nails so far haven't lifted at all! I'm also the sort to be quite practical, not one of these women who doesn't lift a finger. I did notice when i put a body cream on the other day that they looked like they were going to lift but washed it off and use cuticle oil all the time and they now look good again! If your work is good on others it must be her!

The hairdressers I have worked with also have been a bit more challenging. I find that they put a lot more torque pressure on the tips of their nails doing updos and such. They are also in a lot of water - and water is one of the nail enhancement's worst enemies. Is she using a high quality cuticle oil? This will definately help to keep the right moisture balance in the enhancement. It will help prevent lifting and brittle nails.

I have done hairdressers nails for years with L&P and gel and found no difference in the wearability of either ..... THE DIFFERENCE is in how they take care of them.

As Mely says, hair dressers have to be much more consciencious about using Solar Oil on a regular basis to keep the enhancement material (no matter what type) flexible.

Allowing the enhancement material to dry out is the killer along with all the expansion and contraction of the enhancement material when blow drying etc. Hairdressing is a recipe for disaster for hairdressers if they do not commit to taking care of them. With a little care their enhancements will last as long as anyone else's.

All the stylists in the salon I attend every week wear CND enhanced nails and they all do very well with them (I check on a weekly basis).

I have a vision of Geeg having all the staff lined up with their hands out for weekly inspection.

I've done a lot of haisdressers and I've also found that the main culprit is the lack of aftercare. They probably do use the oil but not enough to compensate for the continious wet hands.

Nearly right!!

It is not just the contact with water .. it is the hair driers that are the worst culprit.

Many stylists not only use a brush but also their fingers to lift and dry the hair; fingers that are coming into contact with hot hot air for a considerable amount of time. This is not only drying to the product on the nails, but the product expands with the heat and then contracts when they cool which puts pressure on the bond of the product to the nail plate .. this is the main reason why the product needs to remain flexible to withstand theses pressures.
