I picked up a useful method of tidying french polish by dipping an old acrylic brush in polish remover to straighten lines from this site... anyway

Im fairly new to the industry so I ordered a cheap acrylic brush of the net for this purpose only, anyway I had a big booking of manicures that I wasnt expecting and they all wanted french manicures and the only thing I had to tidy the lines was my good expensive brush .

I used it anyway as the french polish needed perfecting and now im worried that i can not use it any more for acrylic as Ive used it with nail varnish remover.

Should I risk using this brush to do sets or admit defeat and re invest in another brush (the one im waiting for off the net isnt top quality so wouldnt use that anyway)

what do you think?

has the brush gone hard?

i think it shuld be ok if you cleaned it in acetone, not ideal, but it will recoever.

Give it a good clean with monomer

Let it soak in monomer for as long as you can and it should be ok

You should be able to use monomer to recover your brush, leave it to soak in the monomer with the bristles not touching anything to distort the shape, then while still wet, wipe gently on tissue to form your brush into a nice shape.

Plus i use a pipette end to store my brush bristles down to stop it getting damaged or contaminated.

Hope your brush is okay.

If i need to soak my brush in momomer i have an old jar with a hole in the lid, i put a dapen dish filled with momomer in inside the jar, put my brush through the hole in the lid and wrap an elastic band round it so that it does't just fall all the way through and screw on the lid.
Adjust the brush so that the brush is just hanging in the monomer and isn't bent.
A good soak should do it hun

^that is what I do too... kinda. I have a special thingy that can hold a few brushes...

That's a fab tip, saves sellotaping the brush to side of a bottle and balancing it in the monomer :green:

I use the end of a pipette to store my brush and I have a seperate one for cleaning my brush in monomer.

To clean your brush, fill the pipette end about 3/4 of the way up with monomer (or a bit less) and place your brush inside. Leave it to stand against something and job done.

I know it can be knocked over or fall over but it won't spill as the pipette end is tightly sealed around the brush handle.

I'm not sure anyone would recommend doing this as there is a chance you can get monomer on the handle of your brush but it works for me if I want to give my brush a clean.
