Having another girl using my table?

Hi fellow geeks! Okay, the shop owner came up to me and asked if I would mind someone working at my nail station on mondays.

I work tues., thru Sat., and rent my booth. I am very hesitant about allowing this to happen. First of all, she'd bring her stuff in, but whose to say she would use all of her stuff. Secondly, I have a very expensive table and again, whose to say she is going to take special precausions asI would. Is she careful about disenfecting as I am? WOuld she switch products with me? Use my polish or simply lift it from the salon? All kinds of questions go through your head, when you are faced with this.

I am not feeling this whole situation, but the owner, is like she is so nice and her being her will bring you more people. Ok....how??? It's my stuff on the line. I need some opinions on what u would do. Any help would be appreciated! :hug:

I wouldn't like it at all. Explain to the owner your reasons in a way that she'll understand, but don't back down. If you're paying rent then she should should be providing her own desk etc, the same as you. Also, it's a conflict of interest for you, as you'll be helping her possibly take your clients.

When I first rented a room above a hair salon to do waxing, the owner asked if I'd mind one of her hairdressers waxing someone if they were desperate and I wasn't there. I said 'Sure, as long as you don't mind me doing blow drys up in my room'. I made a joke of it but when put like that, she totally understood. xxx

Tell the owner yeah sure as long as this tech provides her own products and equipment just like I have too

I'd hate it if someone used my desk and put all the bottles / files / dishes in the wrong places. Also, any mess I make is MY mess and I clean and sanitise regularly. Would the new girl ? I would mostly go nuts if she used my brush - so from me it would have to be a big NO WAY.

if this was me and she accepted my answer of no i would have to go past the salon a few times on mondays just to make sure she wasn't letting the girl use your space behind your back hth

Dont even consider it! You're unsure now, it will only bring further complications that yo havent even considered if you did it. Trust your instinct and refuse.

I take great exception to anyone going anywhere near my desk, I dont even let clients rest their coffee cups on it (I have a small table next to them for that). You can then, imagine my rage when I turned up for work one day last week, I rent a room in a hairdressers, and the owner looked a bit sheepish and said "morning - ooh I hope you dont mind, we're just using your desk for a second", when I got into my room there was a bloke WITH A BIG BOX OF DODGY DVD'S ON MY TABLE FLOGGING THEM TO THE STAFF:evil::evil:. Well lets just say it wont be happening again:twisted:

Thanks guys for all the replies! Sorry for all the typos, I wrote in a hurry, just after she had asked me and didn't want her to come in and read over my shoulder, what I was writing.

You all are so right in every way. My space. Mine, mine, mine!!! I dont wanna share! I shared one time before with my best friend, and that was HORRIBLE!!!! My co worker sometimes just doesnt think about things. She has a heart of gold but doesnt think of the things that could happen. She is just all about helping someone in need. She did tell me this evening on our way out, if I don't want to do it, not to. It won't hurt her feelings at all. She just thought it would help the other girl out and help me out at the same time. BUT IT ISN"T GONNA HAPPEN!!!!! Thanks for all your opinions!!!!!:hug:
