Hi,

I wondered if anyone could help me. I have a client tonight who wants a set of acrylic nails but wants the cracked ice to cover the tip instead of the french manicure look. I have a pot of the cracked ice and whilst i think its looks very pretty, i havent done anything with it.!! I dont want to use it incorrectly and it lead to the nails not adhering!

any advice on method would be really useful!x

I use 2 ways of applying cracked ice, either add some to your powder and then use as you normally would, although definitely have a practice go to get your mix ratio right. Or make your bead on your brush as you normally would and then dip the bead into the cracked ice and then apply.

Hth's

What i usually do is create the free edge as usual but with a very thin layer of clear, then pick up a small bead with ur brush and dip it into the cracked ice, arrange on the tip as u want, then finish with another thin layer of clear to seal it in, be careful not to get too bulky, finish the nail as usual. HTHS.

Whats cracked Ice? HAve you a puicture anywhere.. Interesting stuff

thanks that really helps, i had an idea you rolled it in with the ball of acrylic but i didnt know weather you applied a layer first of just applied it staright away. Find acrylic so frustrating at times when your trying someting new you havent the time to think about it cos its setting before your eyes!!!x

i tend to put a very this layer of acrylic on the tip then pick up the cracked ice with the brush and arrange it then put acrylic over it hth xx

Im also wondering, How would you apply this with gel?

Would you:
Prep
tip - clear- blend
bond
bonding layer of gel (cure)
apply ice to tip first with a small amount of gel? (cure)
layer of gel (wipe)
file to shape
finishing gloss layer

or is there a better way of doing this?

Cool thanks Agent 1 ... now I get ya
Basically its an alternative to buying either a gel glitter or an acrylic glitter no?

thats exactly how i do it with gel. works great.

if i do it with l/p acrylic i do all the tipping and then either use a little bit of gel to secure the cracked ice, or a bit of resin. i find there is a bit more ease of manipulation with this approach.
