Hi Everyone

I'm trained in silk/fibreglass but find its not strong enough for some clients so decided to do a gel course but haven't got a clue what's best? I've spent the past 2 days on here looking at posts and narrowed it down to Bio Sculpture or CND Brisa! I like the sound of Bio Sculpture and noticed it's what a lot of clients ask for but saw a lot of technicians say it's only good as a overlay and I want a gel to use over tips so I decided on Brisa but then I saw some technicians that use both say 90% of clients go for Bio with only 10% going for Brisa so now I dont know what to go for as I also saw that Bio now do a product called S gel which is stronger? Any help would be good thanks.....

Bio and Brisa are two totally different products, their only similarity are that they are both gels.

Brisa is a buff off gel and offers strength, longevity, clarity and my clients love it. Bio is a soak off gel, it offers a massive range of colours, Bio tech's clients love it but from what I've read on here it doesn't offer the strength and longevity that you find with buff off gels.

You could have both Brisa and Bio, use them alongside each other to cater for all of your clients.

Have a look at the following article that Amber wrote, it's got loads of info and should help: http://www.salongeek.com/general-articles/35483-choosing-correct-gel.html

Hi, i was just about to post on the same subject, i am torn between the above two and OPI. I have had the OPI coloured gel and loved the colour and the fact it lasted a couple of weeks (unheard of for me) I use CND for L&P, spa man and peds, and am really happy with the products, just want to be sure before spending out on a gel system. Am being asked for gel more and more, especially for summer toes. Lets hope to be clearer from the advice on here:)

I am trained in calgel and i love it as for as overlays go on the natural nails but find that when it comes to extensions it is not strong enough.

I would like to have a go at using a harder gel to offer to my clients but do not really know alot about them. As they are a buff off gel does this mean that you cannot soak them in acetone to remove them? Do you apply them in the same way as the calgel? Also what is a good make hard gel to try :)

Hard gels (buff off) can't be removed with acetone, they have to buffed off with a 180/240 abrasive, however gel is softer than L+P and it doesn't take long to remove it.

Brisa (for example) isn't applied in a brush on method (like enamel), you apply it in a bead and tease it out over the nail to get the correct structure and apex.

Bio Sculpture have Sculpting gel, Flexigel, Free Edge gel and S gel which all give you strength, and all soak off.
It is nice to remove with no dust (except for breaking the surface of the gel first).

I happily use Bio Sculpture on many clients for full sets of extensions and overlays. It is perfect for extending and overlaying. It also has the added advantage of over 100 colours, which really are amazingly popular!

Granted....about 5 years ago, it was really more suited to being an overlay gel, but several new strong sculpting and building gels have been added to the range, making it perfect for sculpting and extending.

We have a Bio Sculpture techs discussion group on here.....which we are always swapping idea's, thoughts and techniques, and provides great support to new techs and old. Many have found it a wonderful 'hand-hold' in their early days with the product. I will send you an invite, and can assure you, you would get fantastic help and reports in there!

I know this might sound suspicious as Akzentz is my favourite... But have you thought about Akzentz? They have both ranges, classic and soakable gels. The classic has lots of different consistencies and shades, and the soakable has a massive range of colors. You can even use the colors over the classical gel.

Thanks for all the advice everyone, i'm going to wait until the Beauty show at the NEC and have a chat with Bio Sculpture and have a look at some others

Hi there,

I know this post is a few months old but I am new to the nail industry and feel comletely in the dark and am torn between Brisa gel and biosculpture but swaying more towards the biosculpture and was wondering if you would mind sending me an invite to this group? i am thinking of doing my training asap.

Many thanks :D xx

If you go into the Group at the top of the page and then select the Bio Sculpture you should be able to join from there.

Sorry not sure how to put a link in for you

@Zingara I would very much like to find your Bio Sculpture techs discussion group on here. I've had a struggle with both the soak off process and the fills. I LOVE this nail product finished result after application, but need some advice on how to get through a few trouble shooting issues. Thank you so much,
