Hello,

I want to offer rockstar toes (glitter toes) to my clients and have been practicing on myself but it takes me forever and my way is really messy. Although they turn out nice and last for over 2 months, I find them very thick and it takes me me a long time to file to remove them. Here is what I do...I use Light Elegance gels:

  • Prep toe nails,
  • Bonder - cure,
  • coat of clear gel (LE 1-step) and sprinkle glitter (super messy) - cure
  • another coat of 1-step gel - cure
  • clean sticky, finish file to shape
  • last coat of 1-step - cure
  • clean sticky and I'm finally done!
Do you have a better way of doing them? By sprinkling the glitter on top of the gel, which is messy, it makes the nail very thick and uneven but i don't quite know how else to do them! Wnat to share how you do them? Maybe I can try another way!

Thank you ladies!
Marie from Montreal

When I do rockstar toes I prep the nail as normal but instead of doing many layers I mix my glitter with my gel, apply a layer, cure and then put another thinner layer over the top to seal it all in.
Or I do my design on the natural nail and seal it with Quattro (star nails) and find that it lasts weeks.

i find the best way is to use my nobility soak off gel.
it doesnt need a bonder, so that looses 1 step.

prep nails.
apply a thin coat of gel.
apply glitter. either use a brush slightly moistened in gel and pick up glitter and pat onto the gel or try putting your glitter into a cheap salt pot and sprinkle onto the gel, its less messy either of these ways.
cure.
apply a further layer of gel
cure
usually i dont need to file, but if neccessary wipe and file off any rough spots
last layer of gel and cure and wipe.

theres a tutorial on my web site that you might find helpful.

hi...just a quick question......what are the benefits of using gel on toes as opposed to liquid and powder? I dont do gel as yet so dont really know the science of it but just wondered. I know you can use liquid and powder on toes and i have on myself but just wondered why it seems that most opt for using gel. (especially when doing glitter designs as it really sounds quite complicated....but something's do sound it sometimes dont they ...that is until you do it yourself).

its very flexible, especially the soak off gels.
that makes them hard wearing and helps prevent any cracking or damage to overlay or nail.

Thank you ladies,

Angel fingers, I checked out your tutorial and I think I'm going to try Le Chat Soak off gel for the toes. I just hope it's available here in Canada.

Thanks,
Marie

I also pre-mix the glitter into the gel......

i use soak off gel so a bit different
but what i do is
prep
base layer gel
set
sprikle glitter on a lint free pad
scoop up some gel on brush pat into glitter then add to nail
set
finish layer
set
wipe off sticky
top coat
done
45mins/1hour
