hi all im doing gel nails and i am still having problems with the gel lifting at the free edges i cap the free edge make it thicker but still lifting could any one please give me some advice on what i could be doin wrong?

can you go through your prep step by step, maybe something that you are doing/ not doing at that stage?

what system are you using?.. maybe someone on here using the same one can help you.

Maybe try doing one or two nails at a time.. as the gel might be shrinking back off the nail before it's cured

i use IBD i use nail prep file the nails, remove dust ,shape free edge and side walls, apply bonder spareingly cure 3mins then apply the white to 2 nails capping free edge and side walls cure then apply 2nd coat if needed then apply clear bulider gel cure then file (shape) and then apply ultra seal

just a suggestion but try applying a thin layer of your clear/pink gel between the bonder and the white, I find it gives the white a little more base to support it than just a bonder x

I have noticed that after your application of the builder gel you file and shape. Do you re-cap the edge afterwards? Make sure that the nails is re-capped or else this will lead to lifting....

i file the free edge and side walls first then apply products then just shape the nail dont file side walls or free edge

When you're shaping/refining the enhancement you will more than likely be removing some of the capping you've applied, make sure that when you apply your last coat of gloss or finishing gel that you run the brush along the exposed free edges, including the sidewalls, this will ensure that all edges are capped and no more filing will be done so no worries :green:

If you do need to shape before the final gel layer, file from under the nail at an angle so your leaving a slight overlap with the gel over the nat nail, I find this helps no end, then last layer of gel cap, cure, finish !

That usually happens if your nails are a bit weak. The nail can bend and flex under the gel which pulls it away from the gel, try building a good apex to strenthen the overlay x
