Hi there
I sympathise with you as it sounds like chloasma to me (but Im not a dermatologist), which is what I suffer with. it is usually above the lip area and around the eyebrows and on the cheeks caused by hormonal changes, the pill and pregnancy. I have suffered for over 10 years with this problem and have tried everything you can think off except the laser route.
I have been told by a top dermatologist that peels can make the problem worse as the pigmentation is very deep. I tried MD, Dermologica, shop baught creams, iv had a green peel and none of them changed my pigmented areas. I have been using Environs products these last few months, as they are fantastic products, iv been advised to use C boost with vit A and also there new product called
Evanescence, which works by reducing the hormone from over producing the melanin in your skin. It takes time and will not totally fade this problem, in fact the dermatologist said its very difficult to treat, and products tend to reduce the pigmentation, but will not completely get rid of this problem, unless I go down the laser route.
I saw a specialist in lasers and she said the laser she uses would actually make the pigmentation (chloasma) worse and could even cause hypo pigmentation, she could treat brown spots but not my chloasma, i was gutted.
There are different types of lasers though for different conditions so you need to speak to a specialist, but be careful they are for your condition. The main thing is to always wear atleast a factor 15 in the winter, and I wear a factor 60 in the summer, and try the evenescence, as I have seen my chloasma fade since starting it (even though not used it for long) You use it just like a toner after cleansing, then use you vitamin creams on top.
