What's the best thing I can use for my pigmentation on cheeks and upper lip?

I have tried Crystal Clear Microdermabrasion and their products and dermalogicas skin brightening system. These have lightened it slightly although I am getting married soon and wonder if there is anything more effective? Was thinking of trying MD formulations - anyone tried it?

What decent sunscreen can I buy with a very high factor?

Thanks

Have a look at P8N8 - Simply Amazing Skincare
You could give them a call and see what they recommend
The products contain a proteolytic enzyme peel that helps to even out pigmentation and they also do a foundation that is sheer but spf 40

Hi
Nimue Skin care products are quite good. Its a South African Company - check them out. Nimue Skin Technology They do a specific range for pigmentation.
Sassy Hassy, one of the moderators on here sells the products. Speak to her and she will help you!

I really don't think that anything really completely gets rid of pigmentation. Even seeing a dermatolgist can only do so much... although they can usually do a better job at lightning it then salon-grade products do since we can only deal with the superficial layer of skin. A dermatologist can go deeper.

Hi.
I have this too!! Mine is hormonal, started when I went on the pill and even though I no longer am, its still a problem!
Pigmentation is one of the hardest skin conditions to treat. The best way to improve it is prevention!! I always carry around a high factor sun stick -Dermalogica do a great one. If you are out in the sun you need to apply it to the darker area every hour.
The active ingredient in lightening products (and the one that seems to work) is ascorbic acid - or good old vitamin C. When applied topically to the skin it has an amazing effect. The only problem is that it looses its potency when air gets to it, so most creams have little or no effect as their packaging does not allow for this. Environ have one called C-boost which is packaged with this in mind. Guinot (if you can get hold of the professional products) has a facial called beaute neuve, which has a vit C phial, which is as active as you can get ,as you mix the powder and liquid at time of use.
If you do all this it takes a few months for it to fade, but you will always need to use your SPF in the sun. If you don't have that long, then Jane iredale does the most amazing concealer.
Good luck.

I agree with this, the only thing that really makes a significant difference is Lazer or IPL,lazer is the one I have seen the best results with though.

I have clients who have spent a small fortune on products that"CLAIM",to get rid of pigmentation, indeed many will "improve the appearance",but none of the salon products that we as qualified therapists use, would really make much difference at all,as mentioned by Huberella, the products we use are just not strong enough, we aren't allowed to use anything that would be strong enough to make much of an impact, this can only be done by a medically qualified person.HTH

Hi there

I think you need to visit a professional skin care clinic to discuss microdermabrasion or laser.

I have a few links if you are interested.

Hi there

I sympathise with you as it sounds like chloasma to me (but Im not a dermatologist), which is what I suffer with. it is usually above the lip area and around the eyebrows and on the cheeks caused by hormonal changes, the pill and pregnancy. I have suffered for over 10 years with this problem and have tried everything you can think off except the laser route.

I have been told by a top dermatologist that peels can make the problem worse as the pigmentation is very deep. I tried MD, Dermologica, shop baught creams, iv had a green peel and none of them changed my pigmented areas. I have been using Environs products these last few months, as they are fantastic products, iv been advised to use C boost with vit A and also there new product called Evanescence, which works by reducing the hormone from over producing the melanin in your skin. It takes time and will not totally fade this problem, in fact the dermatologist said its very difficult to treat, and products tend to reduce the pigmentation, but will not completely get rid of this problem, unless I go down the laser route. :)

I saw a specialist in lasers and she said the laser she uses would actually make the pigmentation (chloasma) worse and could even cause hypo pigmentation, she could treat brown spots but not my chloasma, i was gutted.

There are different types of lasers though for different conditions so you need to speak to a specialist, but be careful they are for your condition. The main thing is to always wear atleast a factor 15 in the winter, and I wear a factor 60 in the summer, and try the evenescence, as I have seen my chloasma fade since starting it (even though not used it for long) You use it just like a toner after cleansing, then use you vitamin creams on top.
hths:)
