I'm hoping someone can help me with a colour recipe mix for tomorrows client.

I had a client today for a soak off, she's coming back tomorrow afternoon for a new set. She had a look at my custom blending colours today and has decided on purple glitter tips with clear in zone 2 & 3. She liked the look of the glitter in City of Peace (I think it's city of peace - white with lots of white/silver glitter).

I had a play after she left, trying to make a decent colour for tomorrow. I have mixed the city of peace with the purple and tried that, but it didn't really work, the glitter isn't bold enough. I'm thinking of trying using the purple on it's own then using twilight over the top, will this give the right effect?

If anyone has any other recipe ideas please share them, I'm all out of ideas for this look.

Thanks in advance.

Have aother try by doing the purple, filing to get the shape, etc right and then put a layer of glitter over the top.

It's best not to file glitter, as it can really "dull" it down.

Cap with a layer of clear, so that any finish filing isn't going into the glitter.

I haven't ever used Creative glitters, but I'm presuming the same thing about filing applies to them too.

have you got any loose purple glitter or iridescent glitter that you can add to the purple powder?

When a client requests glitter tip I just mix the glitter with the colored powder and then cap in clear, be sure to work thin as you don't want the finished nail to be thick.

twilight over the purple would be pretty but I don't think it will be glittery enough for the look you mean, get a set of loose glitter and add to your powders this way you'll have loads of possible colours/powders xx

Thanks for the quick replies everyone.

I wasn't sure about mixing glitter straight into my powders, because I tried this with silver recently and didn't like the result. The problem was probably with my application, so I tried again with the purple.

I ended up using my purple/city of peace mix and adding a bit of purple glitter and lots of pearly/white glitter. I really liked the result I got with that, I will end up wearing it myself soon I think.

The only problem - after all this she didn't bother turning up for the appointment:mad:
