Hi,

i've just been asked to do a set of Hollywood toes on a lady and she has said that one of her big toes is "too short" because she stubbed it and said that she heard it can be repaired with Hollywood toes, I assume she means repair the appearance and not the toe!!

Is this safe to do, I use acrylic on toes by the way, and any advice on how I should go about it thanks.

Just as a heads up Kathy,
you will get more help and advise if you fill out your profile with the details of your training etc...
hth

Filled it in thanks Loubylou.

Any advice??

I would extend her toe nail with your acrylic just to the end of her toe,
you do it just the same as you would sculpt a nail,

Ye I spoke to her yesterday and she said that half of her toenail has grwon back so I'm just concerned about the amount of nail plate I will have to work off.

i've done Hollywood toes before its just that before I have a a full nail to work off.

Do you suggest butting a form upto the free edge of the toenail that is very short and building it with an opaque powder?

Yes you can use a form,
i do it with out the form, i wait until the L&P is almost set and then work it out with my brush to create the length required, hth

I extend toenails without a form also. I find it easier that way as you don't need to fiddle around with forms on the toe.

Its a great service to offer and is really effective.

Sorry to keep harping on but I just want to be 100% on this.

As the toenail is very short the acrylic would be in close contact with the skin i.e sitting on top of it in order to extend the free edge, is this safe??

Put some solar oil onto the exposed nail bed and wipe most of it off again, (not the nail plate, this bit needs scrub fresh) this will leave a protective layer of solar oil on the nail bed and will prevent any over exposure,
try not to work wet too, hth

Thats brilliant thanks, just didn't feel too comfortable putting acrylic straight on the exposed nail bed.

Thanks again.
