Hi geeks,
I have a client booked in tomorrow for a Hollywood wax, her regular waxer has gone off to have a baby and the new lady who took over apparently isn't very good.

So anyway, I have very little experience doing Hollywoods, so I'm a bit worried about removing hair from the labia. I'm using strip wax (honey) and wasn't taught to use oil beforehand but think I will tomorrow- just a few drops right?

I know that many of you prefer non strip wax and I am planning on doing further training with Kim but that definitely won't be happening before 4pm tomorrow lol.

I've read Katelisas tutorial but if anyone had any encouraging words or tips they would be much appreciated!

It's a good few years since I trained and while I used to do a lot of Brazilians it's not something I've done in the past 3 years, so I'm doubting myself x

Hello

Personally, if I wasn't feeling 100% confident, I wouldn't do the treatment.

Sorry it's not the info you were looking for but, if you're not able, you could hurt her and that's not good for the client or your reputation.

Can you persuade her to have an extended bikini wax and you could try get a course done soonish then do her Hollywood for her when you're trained?

I trained in Hollywoods recently and, until then, I was terrified of intimate waxing lol xxx

I have to agree, I know its not helpful but you'll end up working yourself up :(

What about letting her know you are not totally 100% confident to go straight in to a hollywood but that you would like to go for a brazillian to start with a view to working towards hollywood as your confidence grows with the client?

I'm afraid to say I agree with adventuregirl.

If you aren't confident in your technique you can seriously hurt someone. Especially using strip wax. I personally wouldn't consider doing a Hollywood with it.

Try and persuade her to go with a really high leg bikini for the time being. :)

I agree, if you are not fully confident you should be honest with your client as you can do a lot of damage with wax in that area. You should be trained and certified in the use of non strip wax for intimate waxing and be very experienced when offering this treatment to avoid any damage and / or claims!

Thanks everyone for your replies, I am trained in non strip wax and also in intimate waxing, I would never offer a treatment that I wasn't trained in.

I used to do a lot of Brazilians, Hollywoods were never popular in my area until more recently. I am perfectly happy with my waxing technique, it's only the labia area that I'm doubting myself over, if I thought for 1 second that I would harm someone I wouldn't offer the treatment. This client has come to me as a referral from another of my waxing clients so I just want everything to go well.

I will suggest a Brazilian and see how she feels about it,
Thanks again for your replies x

Wee update, I just spoke to my client, explained my concerns and offered to either do a Brazilian or I could give her the number of a fellow therapist who specialises in intimate waxing. She's decided to have a Brazilian so I'm feeling a lot better :)

Thanks again x

A brazilian is the same as hollywood but with just a strip on pubic mound.
You will need to wax labia in and out for brazilian.
I wouldnt use strip wax either.

Hi Roxie, I understand what a traditional Brazilian is, it's known as a Playboy round here, most of my clients call a Brazilian what we would call a high bikini, sorry to be confusing forgot to clarify in my first post x

Hi I know you have a solution now but for further reference I have read on here that shedunlop uses strip wax for intimate waxing. Maybe if you mail her she will give you some pointers. :)

There are different names for all of them so it does get confusing but the most popular belief is that the brazillian leaves a strip on the pubic mound and all the way underneath, no hair is removed from the labia.

When I re-do my pricelists I will be including a description, makes it so much easier for the client!

Glad you feel more at easy pinkfairy, you may have gained yourself a new client :)

Thanks Lolly I think I have read that too now you mention it! :) xx

Thanks Zooks, this is what most of my clients refer to as a Brazilian, thanks for confirming as I thought I was going to have to message my client again and look like a right div lol!

I definitely do feel happy about the treatment now, thank you :) xx

I go back a very long way and the original Brazilian left hair on the labia, just a narrow strip but it was left there. There is so much confusion now it is better to ask what the client means and explain what you do.

I use both waxes and am perfectly confident in using creme wax for Hollywoods but even I wouldn't use the honey wax my darling it is a nightmare to get off even with oil underneath, it is just too sticky.:wink2:

Hi Sheila :) how are you?

I think I might go and get a pot of creme wax in the morning, I used to use creme wax a lot, I definitely want to do more training so I can confidently offer Hollywoods and everything in between :) xx

Cancel!!!! It's not worth losing your reputation for if you do a bad job or tear her. X

Inclined to agree with Kim! Learning to use hot wax for intimate waxing is the best thing I have ever done, got my business off the ground ;)

I agree with Sheila, with the right creme wax you can get pretty far but i would still use the hard wax for any intricate areas. It also depends on the client and how sensitive they are and how coarse the hair is etc, most still find it more comfortable to have their intimate waxing (and even just the bikini line) done with a hard / non strip wax as that is much gentler to the skin! There is quite a lot to take in, especially if you havent waxed with this type of wax before and it might be worth thinking about a training session or refresher and you will be amazed how quick and efficient you can be, and how comfortable it is for the client! They will love you for it!

Hi lady's, just having a little look threw this thread as I have a Hollywood wax every 4-6 weeks. I don't think anyone has ever used oil though!? What is this, I'm puzzled... Also I get loads of in growing hairs and am debating to stop, they are awfull. Been having it done for over a year and was expecting it to calm
down already!?

hi Elizabeth, I use jasmine oil under the hot wax,it gives a little barrier between the skin and wax but still grabs the hair effectively, although only the tiniest amount is needed.
Do you exfoliate and moisturise the bikini area between waxes? This can help with ingrown hairs :)
