Hello everyone,

I'm sorry, I'm not a nail professional, but I'm in need of your expertise. I'm a translator and I work on a nail art book translating it into English. I get by no problem, but I've come across this particular type of nail polish the writer mentions and I just don't know how it's called in English.

It obviously creates what the writer calls an "antique china" effect: when you apply it it immediately starts to shrink, creating a net of thin cracks. Obviously it's something very artsy used in nail art. :) Do you happen to know what it's called in English?

Thanks a lot!

Ive never heard of it as nail polish but there is something that sounds similar used in decorating, its called "crackle glaze".

Dont know if that helps at all.

Not sure if you are talking about a product or a technique hun? x

Thanks a lot, everybody!

Obviously, it's a product. The author -- he's a nail art specialist -- gives in his book a very detailed list of nail polish types: from regular ones like transparent or pearly to heat-sensitive, UV-sensitive, etc, etc.... and he lists this one, as well. So looks like it's a product, not a technique. How very strange.

PS Whoohoo, I've found it! It's called crackle polish. Here:

Thanks a lot, I would've never worked this one out without you.

All that kept going through my mind was NSI cracked ice!!! I don't think it exists anymore tbh.

Cover Girl...ah at last I remember!!
Nobody cared for it much..didn't it chip??

Wow!! can't believe I've never heard of this before.. can't wait to get my hands on a bottle of it.. thanks a mill :)

Oh yes that's right, turns out it was CoverGirl, I've looked up a few reviews and looks like everybody hated it. :)

Still, it obviously earned its fifteen minutes of fame in a nail art book :)
