Hope I explain myself properly here but whenever I have done a manicure and used my Spa products to exfoliate I always end up with nasty looking gunge under teh free edge so I feel I am constantly removing dirt from under the free edge at the start of the manicure and during the manicure and it just looks nasty especially if there is no colour polish going on - does everyone else have this problem and is it just something that you deal with?

Hi Nikki - I send my clients to go wash their hands (more effective than wet towels etc, if this is what you're doing) along with a nail brush to get rid of all the bits. Seems to work just fine :) Linds x

ooh, I never get any "grit" under the free edge when doing a Spa Manicure. Are you possibly using too much product? Also what is your massage technique? With the way I massage the product onto the arm and hand, the crystals dont reach far enough to get under the free edge.

I personally dont like the idea of asking the client to wash their hands after using the products since it seems a shame to get them to wash away those ingredients that make the skin look plumped and buff.

Oh I meant rinse! Not wash with soap or anything, as agree that would be pointless and get rid of the lovely smells! :) Linds x

i too have never liked the idea of making the client get up to wash their hands so keep a hot bowl of water and flannel mitts on the desk, use less product, and clean unde free edge with cuticle pusher after scrub xxx

:Scared: not too hot i hope lol

could it be too much product being used?

Might be too much product being used and will do what you have said 'chelle and start on the arm with fresh product, thanks ladies x

Hi, i always exfoliate first then use a hand jacuzzi with soaking cond oil. This clears the grit from under the nails. Clients love the hand jacuzzi and it only cost £15.00

I only ever exfoliate the skin on the top of the hand (not the palm) and the lower arm ... it never gets near the underside of the nails.

You only need to use a small scoop of the Exfoliator Crystals followed by the same amount of the Crystal Activator and there should then be no crystals left as the products mix and go smooth.

Never use Exfoliation Crystals without Crystal Activator; they must be used to gether always.

I do not know how to quote the first sentence in bold...LOL,so i quoted the lot...

Remember you only need a small amount, because of the quality of the product!

The palm of the hand is so important to exfoliate, especially on a client who's hands have been subjected to too much sun and looks leathery:eek::lol:

I too, have found there is never any left over under the nail...also remember if you are sending a client to wash thier hands ,in my opinion, the only hand wash i have come across that actually softens and lubricates the hands are the spa manicure hand wash....the oils just condition the skin even more, and it is very difficult to find that in a hand wash:!:

This is exactly how I was taught. The activator (does what is says in the tin) activates the crystals and they disolve into the skin.

Nikki, I think you may be using too much exfoliation crystals to the activator. Try is with less next time and see how you get on hun.

Thanks everyone x
