I'm currently training as I student nurse as well as working as a hairstylist and mua.

My partner is a lot older than me, so I need a more 'sensible' job as my oh says!

after I qualify I'm toying with joining the royal navy and leaving the beauty industry.
Haha! I've just left the Royal Navy after nearly 8 years to join the beauty industry!

At uni, studying to be an English teacher x

Im a student teacher! so its great during the holidays and evenings xx

I earn a living as a full time musician!! Pianist & vocalist-I love my job!! I sing in a wedding band, work for a university, and am a musical director for ATG in Glasgow. Just been involved with Susan Boyle the Musical-anyone going to see it? You'll hear me singing in the background!!!

I work in a small supermarket part time and volunteer in a hospice doing beauty 1 day a week.
Took supermarket job when I started college and sticking with it whilst I gain some experience with the hospice. I'm officially putting myself on the beauty job hunt now as it's getting me down working in the supermarket. Sick of customers comments of "omg do you still work ere!" one day a tin of beans is going to accidentally find it's way out of my hands lol. Let's hope ifind something soon before I do any damage :D

I work full time as a PA and have an online store selling Chihuahua clothes, accessories, beds etc... then I do tanning in the evenings. Am always SO busy now and something's got to give soon!

Wow! So many people with so many different jobs! :)

May I ask, is beauty something you don't do full time due to it being less pay than some of the jobs mentioned?

Less pay and less safety than being a teacher. I love beauty as a hobby but I don't know if I have the passion to do it all say everyday xxx

I work part time in an office and I am trying to build up my mobile beauty business.

I would love to do beauty full time but at the minute I'm not busy enough to give up my regular income.

im a physio :) i did take the plunge a few years ago and left the nhs where i was a senior specialist physio to do hair and nails though, and only do my private sports clinic 1 night a week now. huge drop in money but i feel so much better in myself now doing what i really always wanted to do :D xxx

I work full time as a skilled aircraft fitter and run a team of 20 men. I work shifts so when I'm on earliest which is 5am-1pm I do beauty in the afternoon and I do sat and suns too. I love beauty. But my full time job pays the bills. Would love to do it full time but it just doesn't match my other wages! :-(

I am currently working in a betting shop. Its not galmourous at all and its kinda crappy. I want to leave but not without another job! And plus at 23 I think I am too old to be making £7 an hour!

Hey, I was a Communications and IT Specialist. I joined as a Able Rating, rather than an officer.
The basic training is pretty hard, but then I was only just 18 so it was a bit of a culture shock! The fitness is the hardest part as you have to keep up with the lads, especially during the assault courses and obstacle courses which are killers! Lol. And having to jump off a really high diving board wearing overalls when you are scared of heights is pretty scary! Lol.

You'll be joining as a nurse I assume? They are very well respected in the Navy and you get a really cool uniform and you don't really go to sea, which is a good thing, but I think you still go to places like Afghanistan, as they'll obviously need you there.

I loved it in the beginning so good luck to you, I'm sure you'll have a very successful career!!

P.s. If you do go away, the girls will be queuing up for beauty treatments too! Lol. Everyone used to come to me at sea for brow tidies, etc, even before I was qualified! Xx

I feel so much better after reading this.

Just starting part time in a spa but am worried as the hourly rate is so low.

As qualified nurse I can earn double but hate nursing so much

Am only working part time while I continue post grad study at uni as want to lecture eventually

Feel much better now, as not alone thinking wages are so low AND you have to work every Saturday too :(

THanks for this hun,

Im starting to try and get fit, as I'm 32 and I will 34 when I qualify (no spring chicken lol).

I have been told that the latest that I can join is 36, so it a race against time to get up the required fitness levels.

Oh brilliant, I'm sure you'll be fine. The girls fitness test time is lower than the men's and it gets lower the older you get so I'm sure you'll be fine. The bits where you have to keep up with the men is once you are actually in! Lol. Xx

I called the RN today and there is no waiting time for dental nurses, so if Igot in I would be posted straight away, but the application process can take up to a year'ish so they recommed due to my age that I applied now otherwise I may be to old by the time i qualify and start applying etc.

so I decided to get the ball rolling, just got tell my other half now:eek:
