how many tans per litre?

Please help me i am a bit confused (which is not hard at the best of times). I have heard so many conflicting things about how many spray tans you can get to a litre of tan solution. I understand that the answer will depend on many factors but I just need a general idea. I was told by a trainer ages ago that with practice that a skilled "spray tanner" could get 40 - 50 tans per litre. Yesterday i was speaking to a therapist with her own tanning company who has been involved in spray tanning for 9 years who said (with practice) its about 14 tans per litre. I thought eh ? Thats quite a big differnce. Any thoughts/advice fellow geeks?

I get about 23 tans per litre, I think this is fairly average xx

do you think you trainer may have said 40-50 mls per tan ? there is no way you could get 40 - 50 tans per litre lol
I would say your looking at between 20-25 tans per litre thats using 40 /50ml per tan
it obviously depends on how large the client is as a bigger person also has a larger skin area
Ensure that your machine is set up correctly to avoid overspray,as this is just wasting solution/money
As you master your technique you will use less solution
Good training is very important it shows you how to get the best solution coverage from your equipment,we teach 4 positions with slight moves that cover the whole body, to avoid respraying the same areas and spinning the client around that much they get dizzy :irked:

Steve, she deffo said 40-50 per litre as she was also refering to the cost of the solution per client, making the point that if you bought a solution at say £50 for the litre that it would cost you just over the £1 per tan. My problem is that as I am about to start spray tanning I want to know what I should be working towards solution wise if you know what I mean. There is such a big difference between 14 tans after practice and 50, so just wanted a true idea from those of you who are out there doing it everyday. So thanks.

I get about 25 tans per litre. I don't use hvlp either and my gun probably uses a tad more solution. I reckon with an hvlp i would get about 30 a litre.
I do know people that use 25ml per tan so that would be 40 tans a litre but 50 is really pushing it!!COLOR]

Absolutely now way and sounds more like bul**** sales patter or at worst someone larging themselves up

The average volume for a good spray tan application...30ml -45ml dependent on quality of DHA in the solution,experience and usage....so 35ml is a very good position to be at...equates to 28 tans max.

A fairer quote,dependent on above factors is 20-25 tans per litre...if you get your spray tan prices right the cost of application per tan should be no more than 10% of your solution cost

you can get a litre of solution for a lot less than £50 a litre and the average price now a days is £15 per tan so it is still very profitable even at 18 tans a litre whilst you are still perfecting your technique,
maybe was your 50 a litre woman spraying babies ??:lol::lol:

When I 1st started, I was spraying people with two coats.... just over 100ml per client! Thats what another therapist with st tropez told me her training taught her and then privately I was taught with 2 coats too.

But I've got a big HVLP that cost about £200 and sounds like a hoover. Even with it turned right down it sprays alot but I find it goes on perfectly just with one coat now. Do you guys charge more for extra coats? I've got a couple of girls that love doubling up and it's costing me more...

if you are double spraying someone then yes they should get charged more! i thought though that spraying someone twice in the one application made very little difference though? x

spraying more coats will only deepen the colour guide not make the tan develop any darker....the skin can only absorb so much dha.

I was taught to only spray once as second coat in same application had no extra effect I get about 18 tans from a litre
