look up a few of your local accountants and get a price off them.

whatever it costs you will be worth it in terms of the stress saved worrying have you done it all correctly and also they will know the ins and outs of what you are entitled to claim for etc. like depreciation of equipment.

they'll probably save you whatever they cost you and you'll have peace of mind.

my accountant is £150 inc VAT - i had some quotes way over that - she also does a referral system too so i get £15 off for every new client i introduce to her! so if i introduce 10 new clients in one year i get my accounts for free! bonus!

I dont like the repercussions of upsetting HMRC so i'm not even bothering with the stress of self assessment!

my profession is beauty - hers in accounts! :)

My accountant SAVES me thousands, therefore in real terms my accountant costs me nothing.

I would advise you pay an accountant, particularly if this is your first time calculating self assessment, as it really can be a minefield. You could argue self assessment is not that difficult to do, what is more difficult is knowing all the jargon and everything that can and cannot be offset, even seemingly trivial things.

Accountancy fees can vary depending upon turnover etc. I think I would be asking - How much will an accountant save me?

Mine costs me £100 and I get £15 referral discount :) My hubby pays £450 but that's because he has a limited company so more work involved. In my opinion, he is worth his weight in gold and saves me the hassle and headaches :)

I do all the work (filling out my spreadsheet of incoming, outgoings, stock) he does the calculations, deductions, files the return for me and charges me £100+VAT.

My partner is an accountant who specialises in small to medium sized businesses. We went out with some of his clients for dinner the other week and they told me he had saved them literally thousands due to advice he had given them. Choose your accountant wisely, because cheaper ones may not actually save you money in the long run! Xx

I have two limited companies one of which is VAT registered.
I use Sage to do my accounts and my accountant just signs off the vat return, the corporation tax and the annual returns to companies house. She's also like a hot chocolate: nothing in the big bad world is as bad after a hot chocolate, and when Patricia has spent the morning in my office I feel like I can take on the world.
She costs me nothing per year because she saves me a lot. Her charges are £340 a year.
Bless her, she's even acting as a witness for me and my financial integrity in an upcoming court case.

My Stafford accountant costs £175 all in. He has saved me literally thousands.

I just hand him boxes of receipts, etc and he sorts the lot out. As has been said, it's worth every penny not to have the stress and worry - nor spending the time you could be earning working on accounts.

Try mine she is ace. I gave her everything on a spreadsheet she did all the end of year analysis for and broke down into the figures I needed and hey presto I put it online HMRC and all for £100. Next year if I do the analysis, which I am now every 2 weeks, it'll only cost me £40. Yours will be extra though as you sound like you have alot more to do than me but she is fab, quick and explains it all and is looking at taking on more salons / hairdressers.
